Where is the best place to enter the Houston tunnels?  We are thinking about going down there next week since we have to get some errands done down there anyway. 4951

Kind of depends on where you are going.  Part of the tunnels are blocked off due to construction at the Esperson Building and where Macy's used to be.  There is a tunnel map online.   It is easy to enter via the Hyatt. 4951

From the Northern side, entry from Chase tower and Pennzoil Place is easy. 4951

We don't know where we are going in there.  We just wanted to explore and maybe get some lunch.  Just thought it was kind of cool when we heard about it. 4951

Lots of good places to eat downtown.  One of my favorites is Mia Bella Trattoria on Main and Prairie, a couple of blocks from the Chase Tower, which has an observation deck on the 60th floor. 4951

OWNTOWN'S "underground"
is a system of tunnels 20 feet below Houston's downtown streets and
more than 6 miles long. Having started out years ago as a tunnel between
two downtown movie theaters, today it includes restaurants and service
retail and connects 95 city blocks. Only Wells Fargo Plaza and McKinney
Garage on Main offers direct access from the street to the tunnel;
otherwise, entry points are from street-level stairs, escalators, and
elevators located inside office buildings that are connected to the
tunnel.

The tunnels are an amenity for the large office population so
are open only Monday-Friday from approximately 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.http://www.downtownhouston.org/district/downtown-tunnels/

@TXSunDvl: There's a place that has good gumbo. Can't remeber the name.

@sapphire: Ragin Cajun?

So how do you get into the tunnels?

@turkeytrax:  Virtually all of the main office building have access via escalator or stairs from their lobby area.
