Earlier today a woman was carjacked by a white male in the parking lot of the Porter Walmart. It's reported that he threw her onto the ground and made off with the 2007 Saturn but not before slamming into several other vehicles in the parking lot. ~30 minutes later a used car dealer on 1485 reported that the carjacker brought the vehicle to his lot to try and sell it. The lot owner reported this to Montgomery County Sheriffs Office who pursued the suspect located a short distance away from the lot all the way over to Northpark Dr. where he ran a red light striking a Ford F250 with a child inside. The child suffered lacerations to the head and all occupants were transported to the Hospital.Source: Montgomery County Police Reporterhttp://montgomerycountypolicereporter.com/car-jacking-ends-in-pursuit-and-crash/ 4951

@MTechnique: Wow. That was quite a comment to read. Harsh much?
I actually owned, and loved, my Saturn when I had it. And no, I wasn't upside down.  4951

I rented a Saturn one time to visit my relatives and one of my cousins asked, "Why are you driving a Saturn?!"  I was thinking, "Punk, why are you driving a Schwin?"  I thought the Saturn was a fine car.It stinks what happened.  I hope the lady that was carjacked wasn't hurt and I hope the kid heals quickly. 4951

@MTechnique: quote]NOT MY PICTUREIt looks like he ran the red at the
intersection and blasted a work truck carrying a bunch of people and
construction supplies (now roadway debris)I hope the police pickup every last f&%king nail before I have to drive over this crap on my way home.[quote-end-tag-mismatch]
Surely you don't believe it's the law enforcement officers job to "pick up nails"....?

no one died in this one.  So sad hope the little boy is ok.  I'm sure with all that building material there was some inside the pick up too.  More people are killed by flying unsecure things inside a vehicle then the wreck itself.Like that lady here recently that was killed by a flower pot inside her car when she was rear ended it flew into her head.  They said the wreck was minor and should of survived. 4951

The title should read, "Stupid Crook Causes Accident". Some may read and think that the police are the actual cause of the accident. 4951

@Commonsense: 99% on this forum are smart enough to know the police didn't cause the accident.

Don't get me wrong, I respect those LEO's that are a fine upstanding model of the position, but so few really are these days. Fact is the Police are REactive not PROactive. You and I are all responsible for our own safety and well being. Police will be there to write the report and sketch your chalk line.Police departments are routinely sued for misconduct and failure to exercise common caution when it comes to innocent 3rd parties suffering losses as a result of a LEO's decisions.Entering into a chase "high speed" or otherwise is just a small part of it.Police departments routinely lose in court and pay out big money to victims of the actions.City of Houston just paid a $5,000,000 settlement to two victims that were permanently crippled as a result of HPD action.http://www.news10.net/story/news/nation/2014/07/28/houston-police-chase-lawsuit-5-million-dollar-settlement/13300007/This sort of thing happens every single day in Houston. I know a plethora of HPD officers, some acquaintance some friends. The things I hear would really amaze you. They are just human beings doing the best they can do with the resources provided, and many have terrible problems getting the resources needed. Most don't have kevlar vests for example issued to them, and those that do? The certification on the vests are almost universally expired, meaning they aren't fit for duty. Yes bulletproof vests expire. Here is a KHOU article of thier research of HPD caused losses and how (nothing) is routinely done about it to make the victims whole:http://www.khou.com/story/news/2014/07/19/11708810/ 4951
