Sorry if some/most of you have already seen this, but just in case you weren't aware, from the Stang Camp Welcome page: ***New for 2014!  All Humble ISD secondary students will be required to wear photo ID badges this upcoming year.  These badges will help us with student safety and security.  Visible photo identification will help us assure that everyone in the building is supposed to be on campus, both students and staff.  In addition, the ID badges can be used in the cafeteria, library, with textbooks, and more.  The badges will be created during Stang Camp.  All students will have their pictures taken during Stang Camp that will be used for their badges.  Students must be in dress code to have their picture taken.  These badges will be worn so that they are visible, preferably on a lanyard.  There is no cost to students for the initial ID badge to be made, but should a student lose or damage his/her badge, there will be a replacement fee. 4951

I dont see a problem with id badges as long as they are not chipped with hidden tracking devices. And before anyone throws tin foil at me, schools have and do continue to do that. 4951

@zanne71: Same with Creekwood.  DS will be going into 8th grade and he's not had to have one.

My oldest who is now about to turn 22 had a picture ID badge in both willis middle school and willis highschool. I dont believe they had to wear them but they did need them for lunch account, hall identification, library, school parties...etc. They were told to just keep them with them at all times. In highschool they were allowed to use their DL if card was misplaced. 4951

NCISD has required them for both middle and high school (s) for the past 10 years. It helps with the library, lunch, and allows for security in the hallways. Making sure there are not random people roaming around. It does helping the students be accountable :-) 4951

We had ID's that we had to wear at all times when I was in middle and high school. Then again, we also could only have clear or mesh back packs, had to walk through metal detectors, had a drug dog that patrolled campus periodically, were subjected to random locker searches and had an Aldine security officer or HPD on property almost everyday. Ah the good old days of feeling like you were going to prison everyday... 4951
