Our son and daughter-in-law are planning to move to Kingwood in late October.  Their son is going to start kindergarten while living with us now.  Any suggestions as to a good accredited kindergarten I can contact?  I plan to start looking first thing in the morning.  HELP!  4951

You would probably look into the Kindergarten you are zoned to. Otherwise, Montessori might offer K?! 4951

Are you looking for a private kindergarten as opposed to public? 4951

Because kindergarten isn't required in Texas, he can go anywhere. 4951

Thank you for your ideas.  He will go to public kindergarten when his parents move up here in October.  I want to get him into something until that happens. Do the Churches have kindergartens?  Are they any good?  Which ones have the best reputations?  Thanks for your responses.  I need a whole lot of help.  This Grammy is not sure of where to look first.  4951

I would love to put him in public, but not sure where his parents are going to live up this way. They are looking for a house now.  So it will have to be a church or private kindergarten until they get settled. 4951

Seems like your best bet is just to put him in kindergarten at whatever school you're zoned to. Making him switch in October wouldn't be very fun for him. But school starts in about a week so I'm not sure if it's too late. 4951

Do you live here in Kingwood? there is a kindergarten zoned to your neighborhood. What village do you live in? 4951

Why don't you just start him at the public school he'll be attending in October? It's kind of tough on a kid that age to start school, make friends, adjust to the teacher...only to have to start all over again in a month or two. 4951

We live in Greentree, but I don't have legal custody of him  His mama and daddy come up 3 nights a week from Katy.  They live in Katy for now. The are looking at houses in the front of Kingwood but haven't found what they want yet.  This plan to start kindergarten up here just came up today.  He is with us to avoid long hours of after school day care because of their jobs.  I'm the new daycare and I love it  ; )  He is excited to go to kindergarten and I was just wondering where to start looking since public was not an option at this point.  He is going to have to change for 1st grade not matter what... 4951

@taramay  We don't know which area of Kingwood he will be living in... I will probably keep him in the same Kindergarten all year.  He will change going to 1st grade.  Or he will change at the semester to go into his "real school for the rest of elementary years."  Hard but we are trying to keep him out of long daycare hours and get everything settled with housing before first grade. 4951

@GrammyM: Greentree elementary is the school you would most likely look at. To start at any other school in the district you would have to get a transfer approved from both the school you are so end too and the one you put him in. Your son will have to enroll him and will have to actually say they are living at your home in order for him to be able to be enrolled.

I also believe the kindergarten here are not full day so you would still have him half a day. 4951

@BooBear  Thank you so much.  This is not an easy thing to do for anyone, least of all our grandson.  Thank you for your advice.I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a private or church kindergarten? 4951
