I'm not complaining, because I know that back to school expenses are a necessary evil, but I wish I could just send the kids off to school with everything paid for.  Today, I have to drop about 200 ea for the kids to start band.  I'm not looking forward to college next fallEmoticon  At least I don't have  a cheerleader. I heard they have $$$ initial fees. What's your biggest back to school expense? 4951

I will be starting my last year of college this fall and besides tuition, textbooks are ridiculous. Especially when you buy them because they are on the syllabus and then your teacher says "oh we aren't gonna be using that book this semester". I've learned not to get any books until after school starts and rent them off Amazon because its the cheapest option.  4951

@messyjessi986765: Books are a racket! I only need one this semester.  I know one of mine is going to go to Lonestar, and we are hoping for an ROTC scholarship for the other. Prayers are always appreciated!

Yes I love it. I will certified for Ec-6 next year. But if you are going to be doing 4-8 or high school not all your classes will be at lone star you would have to actually go downtown for some classes. I had a lot of upset classmates that were not aware of that until it was too late.   4951

We got fabulous deal at Kohls. Used a combination of sales and the special coupons and saved $250ish on a $400ish total. 4951

@topcat: I just paid $800 plus for PARKING for DD at U.T.
And that is smallest expense.Bring back the grade school expenses. It's all relative. But thank God she is in college, she is doing good, and so far we have been able to send her. 4951

So far we have to put out $1000 for tuition over and beyond what financial aid will pay and even getting most of her books from amazon and renting the other two from the school store, books will be over $400. I still have to get supplies for the other two and clothes since they are growing out of them so quick. Hm I see some over time in my future. 4951
