I was initially surprised by the lack of variety for some things, despite the size of the store. And they are missing some bulk items that I find at HEB, like Himalayan sea salt. Still, it has a better selection than the Porter Kroger or Walmart.
Having lived in Alaska, I was used to Fred Meyer Jewelers being in every Fred Meyer Grocery store. Along with a big housewares and apparel section. It was like a super Target. There was also a Fred Meyer liquor store inside the building. You had to purchase all alcohol separately, but at least it was a little more convenient to buy your Vodka, instead of making another stop at "Specs."
Being that this is now the closest store to me, I shop there 85% of the time. The layout is a bit awkward, but I am happy that I don't have to drive to WLH for Boar's Head, sushi, or certain organic products.
There are still several things that I can only find at HEB or Randall's, and when I fill out special request forms at Kroger, they are ignored. Regardless, this is my store of choice.
At first, I was annoyed by the greeters at each door. Then DD and I decided that we are amused every time Francisco is working. He says in his thick South American accent. "Ello, welcome to Krogers." Then as we are leaving, he happily exclaims, "Thank you for chopping!"
