I was home alone this afternoon when someone knocked at my door.  The man said he was from Suddenlink security.  Showed me a card with his picture and Suddenlink around his neck.  Looked likea very old card.  he told me due to the fact I am in front of the neighborhood,  Suddenlink is changing over to a new key pad and they would pay for mine free as long as I would put a sign in my yard.He did not have a Suddenlink Van or clothes that referenced suddenlink.  He asked me what kind of key panel I had and how long I had it.  I walked back in and closed the door.  In contacting Suddenlink,, they have been having complaints...this man was not from Suddenlink.  He does know Vivant has said they are partners and had people sign contracts [alleged] fraud.   I don't know what he wanted but please becareful!!!!  Suddenlink said their people will always have clothes identifying and also usually call before coming to their customers residence.  I have Suddenlink security and I am happy with it.  The fear factor here is he knew my name and wanted to know what kind of Key pad I had on my wall.  4951

Suddenlink Security shouldn't be coming to your house, unless they have an apt.  I would imagine the sign may be to let the night crew know that your house is one to hit.@Ann2800, never open your door to anyone not scheduled to show up.  Just yell thru the door that you are armed and not feeling well.  I want to get a mail slot on my front door,  and then I want to get a cattle prod.  It would be fun cheap entertainment.

@Fallon: it's even more fun to keep a wet floormat at the front door and have the push button  for the bell wired hot...i kinda like the smell of smoking hair

@Fallon: Fallon your absolutely right and that is what Suddenlink told me.  They have never come over and knocked on my door in the five years I have been here without an appt.  They said It is not a good sign at all. Your right I will never open the door again without knowing who it is.

I had sudden link come to my door about cable the other day. Very pushy lady. I barely opened the door. She wouldn't let up. Finally I shut the door in her face. She gave me a card. 4951

Sometimes they will knock on your door if working on a neighbor's if the box is in your yard or wires run through your yard so they don't always call. Last week this happened to me but I recognised the sudden link truck and outfit and was pretty confident he was an employee but still did not open the door but instead concealed my weapon and walked around through my locked back gate outside and showed him where the box was and walked him back around after. It was obvious although he was rude as I posted last week , he was an employee. I usually can tell imposters or scouter outers but you can never be too safe. 4951

I am surprised at the people that still open their doors to strangers.  Why do people do this? You can talk thru a closed door people. @Burnsway, yeah we had Suddenlink people out, but they were for cable.  Never have had Suddenlink security people going door to door.  Not in the 11 years we have used them.  Suddenlink cable, you should know, from the uniform and truck.  When our neighbors tree was hit by lightening we had Suddenlink out at a few houses.  All were in uniform, and all had their trucks clearly marked.  Would never use a company that sends people out door to door.  You do that, you lose my business.

@Fallon: yea certainly would not open door to suddenlink sales or security that was not expected, I was talking techs. I also didnt open my door, I talked through a window and when I saw the truck next door and his clothing and badges and so fourth I then let both dogs into the living room went out our back door and unlocked the back gate to show him where the box was which wasnt our yard. I was packing heat whole time...LOLI never open front door without speaking and checking through our window first. And always packing a little hidden protection no matter who it is unless family or well known friends...:-)I dont believe in hiding and acting Im not home because this is often a sign its ready to be robbed with no people inside. My dogs are loud and protective too....HA!

@Fallon: I never never open my door but I had just put a lock on my gate to back yard.  I thought for some crazy reason may of been the gas guy needing my meter.  Won't do that again.   I want to put a storm door up in front ofmy door but I have not seen any.  I guess it I not allowed.yea certainly would not open door to suddenlink sales or security that was not expected, I was talking techs. We have Vivant also. After over a year, we love it. Glad we changed from Suddenlink. They did come to my door to sell it but they had on clearly marked orange shirts and had photo id. Looked much more professional than the guys suddenlink used to send over here. 4951
