In fact they ahve been told if they try boiling the water, which we are usually told is ok to do, that in this case it will only serve to concentrate the toxins even more.

@Stealth83: Boiling water kills the organisms. Which is usually the issue with non potable water. If however those organisms create a toxin, that may not boil out (break down) with that heat. So you boil off some of the water leaving the toxins more concentrated (assuming they don't boil off).

@mpjp0907: The river going under I-10 (is it the San Jac. still) caught on fire years ago. They had to close down I-10 going east. We were headed to Florida and had to detour around it (like a 90 mile detour or something odd like that. Took forever.

(Reuters) - A ban on drinking tap water in Toledo was lifted early Monday after new tests showed that toxins were no longer at dangerous levels from algae on Lake Erie, the mayor's office said. But I find this little tidbit the interesting part. Not absent, but;"new tests showed that toxins were no longer at dangerous levels" 4951

BUT STILL THERE

@WskyTngoFxtrt: Hope they are not the type that build up over time.
A glass of water here, some soup there, ice tea, a shower, then what? Our water system are just designed to do anything with toxins/poisons. They are designed to kill micro organisms is all.I haven't even seen anything  on if filtering will remove the toxin. I guess it depends if it's molecular structure is large enough to be stopped or penetrate with the water in a filter. 4951
