Have any of you done any of the obstacle races that come around?  If you have, what kind of training did you do to prepare.  The reason I ask is because I want to do one...a year or so out....I'm in the process of getting in shape and need a goal to strive for and I think one of those races would be a good goal to shoot for.

Thanks in advance for the help. 4951

I've not done one but know many who have. Basically- lots of running- go do the par course like at Duessen. Lots of chin ups and climbing- especially on wet and slippery surfaces. No training for getting electrocuted - just can't train for that Emoticon
NOW here's why I haven't done one
1) huge fear of getting electrocuted- I've been shocked before and no amount of money nor love will get me to crawl through a wet area with dangling wires- sorry- nope!

2)- one acquaintance broke and ankle running through the mud

3) one friend tore his meniscus and ACL. The meniscus tear came from running through the mud pit and ACL he tore when he jumped down after scaling a wall. Took him 10 months to recover from surgery. He said he'd never do a run like that again- BUT I'm proud of him- he's competing in the Ironman in CO this weekend.

Good luck! 4951

I have done the Warrior Dash twice & had a blast both times.
The first one I did not train for at all. I looked up the course online, but did not train for it. This one was in Monthomerycounty at the BMX course.

The second one we did in Centerville, I did this one after I lost about 45 pounds. The one in Centerville was a more rocky terrain.

There is no shocking in the Warrior Dash. The Tough Mudder and the Mud Run are more difficult & I know at least one of them has the shocking.
My son has done several different ones & he absolutely loves them.
