Be aware of the new return policy at Best Buy, I will no longer shop at Best Buy because of it.. I am done with them with how I was treated.I have bought tons of stuff from Best Buy over the last 15 years, even have the rewards program and now they just lost a customer.I bought a insignia portable car dual DVD player for my kiddo on our recent road trip to Chicago. I bought this from Best Buy. During the trip the DVD player skipped well over 200 times on all 9 dvds that he watched. He was frustrated with the constent cutting and skipping of the movie.. we were out of town for 10 days, I bought the DVD player the weekend before we left.. we got back in town and with in a week in a half I went to return the DVD player system as it clearly is defective.. it was about 27 days from the original purchase date. I went to the return counter with my receipt and told them the problem with the skipping and I would like to return it as it is defective. She said okay, and asked for some of my personal info like phone and address info. Then she stated she could give me the 140 dollars onto a store credit, I said no just go ahead and put the credit back on the card. She said she couldn't do that, I said I have returned an item or two before over the Years and had no issues with you putting the credit back on my card. She stayed their new policy is in order to get a full refund on your card you have to return it with in 15 days. I said I wasn't even in town to be able to return it . She said a store credit is all she can do..I asked for a manager..He came over and we went through the same thing, he said he can't do anything about it, either take the product or get a store credit... Short little guy with glasses thought he was a tough little guy.. unreal in how best buy would treat there customers this way with store credit, they clearly have trapped your money with them with this new policy, and not say anything about the new 15 day return policy. This is wrong.. so needless to say they just lost a customer.Spread the word on this new policy. It is not right nor was I notified about it when I purchased the product.. not cool at all.. 4951

Best Buy has been hurting for years because of websites like Amazon. This certainly can't help their image. A great price and excellent customer service is all a brick-and-mortar store has going for them these days. So if they really do treat customers like this, I hope they go down in flames. 4951

I've never been a fan of theirs anyway, other than CD's, I don't buy anything from them...... I've heard too many bad things about them from family and friends, now you. Thanks for more confirmation. 4951

I think the larger problem is many people buy a product, use it for a short time, then return it.They loose money on this scam all the time.Sounds like you just caught up in the red tape.Something has to be done to stop this kind of abuse.Sounds like their new policy is one of their steps on this.So is Best Buys to blame, or the other people who take advantage of their return policy? 4951

@NewToTexas: Definitely do this. If you bought it with a credit card then you very likely have the credit protection afforded by the credit card company. The 15 days has been a policy for a few months now. Although their site shows that they updated their policy information on their website on June 8th this year. If you had their rewards program they do offer longer return options depending on what level rewards member you are."as your points add up, you can reach Elite and Elite Plus status, and receive an extended returns and exchanges period of 30 or 45 days, respectively, instead of 15 days, on most purchases." -bestbuy.com

We've had to return several things to Best Buy after using them for a few months. The most annoying was a soundbar that stopped working after a month, we returned it and got a replacement and THAT stopped working after a month. I would have been furious if they'd refused to accept those returns! I don't think I can trust buying expensive electronics from a place that won't refund your money after they sell you something defective. 4951
