I bought a convection/ conventional combo. To be honest I'm not impressed but then I'm not much of a cook. At first everything took way longer to bake than my 30 year old GE ( AND I would still have it today IF they still made parts) no matter if I used conventional or convection. But all that changed a month ago when a transformer blew outside and we were without power for 8 hours. Makes no sense to me but a few days later ( I told you I'm not much of a cook) I used the oven and it was baking things a bit quicker than it was in the beginning. Meh- go figure. I'd save the money and get a regular oven. This combo was hubby's idea- lol maybe he thought it'd make me a better cook? Sorry buddy can't have it both ways- yard work, painting, remodeling and housework I can do- cooking not so much 4951

Convection ovens have a fan to circulate the heat so it surrounds the food evenly as opposed to heating it from the top/bottom of the oven. I use my oven on convection for some things, but I mostly use it in conventional mode. 4951

I prefer convection ovens. To me, they don't dry out food as much, and it does a better job of cooking evenly without having to rotate the pan constantly. Plus it's a faster cook time. 4951

@KTownTexican: why do you prefer the convection?

@sapphire:
because it cooks faster at a lower temp. the hot air circulates and cooks more evenly, without burning  4951
