So my last labs showed that my cholesterol is still high even with the meds so she told me I have to go on a no carb diet...that along with no red met, no cheese or dairy....WTF does that leave besides the laptop I'm typing on???Btw....@topcat those shakes are working out well...my son's weight is creeping back up. YAY! 4951

@Ally: No carb or low carb?  Fish, lots and lots of fish.  DH uses turkey for meatballs and burgers.

@Ally: No carb or low carb?  Fish, lots and lots of fish.  DH uses turkey for meatballs and burgers.
 
@Okiedokie: I only eat turkey fish and chicken. Alot of vegies and fruit. SO BORING!!

That sucks. By "no carb" do you mean no starches? 4 hour body is a pretty easy plan to follow, but it is "slow carb" and no dairy except cottage cheese. You can still have veggies, beans, almond butter, avocado, etc.. Check it out, unless you really mean "no carbs" like the induction phase of Atkins diet. 4951

@topcat: Yeah, high cholesterol = heart disease is a total myth. I'll have to find some patient-centric sources for that, but if I dig out my PowerPoint it's got tons of studies cited in it.

@Ally: I only eat fish and rice. I can't have most fruits and veggies. There are so many different things out there to try though-just experiment-it is a ton of trial and error.

I've been on statins for years....most of them do not work for me. My overall number isn't terribly high but my triglyceride levels are high which is linked to carbs and sweets. So far I cut out red meat, sugar (except for the sugar in fruit), dairy and carbs which include beans, rice, pasta, bread and potatoes. I did cut these things out once before and my numbers dropped by 75 points in 5 weeks. 4951
