Did I miss a celebrity endorsement somewhere? Was it shown in a movie? Did they do a reality tv show about it? It's a good sauce, but it's popularity seems to be out of control lately. I keep some in the fridge, along with a dozen other hot sauces, but I usually throw it out before it's finished. I'll take just about any Louisiana hot sauce, over Sriracha, for every day use.

I agree totally! I really don't like the flavor...tried it once and ended up throwing the entire bottle away. I much prefer Tabasco or Trappey's Red Devil cayenne sauce (when I can find it). Grilled whole okra dipped into one of these is a YUMMY appetizer! 4951

I think that the whole controversy with that California plant made people buy it more....it is good but I prefer Franks Red Hot over anything. 4951

I prefer Siracha over the others, because I don't like how vinegar tasting Tobasco & others are. 4951

@OhHappyPets:
Vinegar is what I love about it!  Being German & Irish though contributes to that....I could eat French Fries with Malt Vinegar or Franks Red Hot on them daily!  4951

@thetarget9: I didn't know that...Makes sense though. Nothing like a no fair, bad news, sob story to get some new fans on board. I've heard of a few BBQ joints reaping the popularity benefits of their pits being "stolen". Free press(advertising) can be awesome!

I love Sriracha, but I can't imagine using it on everything. I like it on Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese or Indian food. On American or Cajun food, I still use Trappey's Red Devil or something similar. On a cheesy or creamy dish, I just sprinkle cayenne.I'm a spice junkie. 4951

I agree.  Sriracha is great on Asian food, but I prefer the Louisiana red sauce on most other foods. 4951

@Mahm: I'm not a junkie, but I do love to spice up certain things: Eggs, sausage, boudin, fish, tacos, and slick meat sandwiches to name a few. Have you ever been to the Houston Hot Sauce Festival? The oldest daughter is kind of a chilehead, so we go every year. Emoticon
