Just heard from an HEB employee that they are putting in a new HEB at the corner of KW Dr and W Lake Houston. Apartment dwellers have to be out by this November. (not sure if this is old news!) 4951

We heard that they were being moved for business development. Interesting that its HEB doing this... wonder what the "news stations" will say. 4951

i am boycotting HEB.  refuse now to shop there!  We do not need another freaking super store.  We need homes if anything and decent ones. 4951

because we already have an HEB (2nd in Atascocita), 2 Kroger's (3rd one in Atascocita), 2 Randall's, 1 Wal-Mart (2 more within driving distance)....There needs to be more options for housing or other business opportunities. My taxes went up because, of "business development" 4951

And then there will be another vacant store and parking lot... Take out the trees, rape the land and poor concrete. Not to mention the additional entrances and exits on KW Dr and WLH to cause more traffice woes. I dislike HEB as it is, this just makes me dislike them even more. 4951

Remember - the plan was to tear down the apartments and put in new stores. So, whatever retail giant or other retail stores went in, the end result would be the same. The new Kroger store with all the fast food places - they tore down the trees and added a lot of traffic. 4951

Remember - the plan was to tear down the apartments and put in new stores. So, whatever retail giant or other retail stores went in, the end result would be the same. The new Kroger store with all the fast food places - they tore down the trees and added a lot of traffic.
 
@jls2: . I agree about the new Kroger, big difference from where it is located to be smack dab in the middle of KW. It will be ugly IMO

I miss the old Holiday foods that was there in the beginning.  That store stood vacant for so long! Just as the original Randalls' on 59 remained vacant until Sears bought it.  I loved shopping on the way home off the freeway instead of taking out all our beauty we all moved here for 4951

I remember when there was an Exxon station in their parking lot, which closed when they opened the big-arsed one across the street. 4951

Our taxes will not go up because businesses come in.  That usually helps take the burden off of home owners.I will be glad to see those apts gone.  The owner does not take care of them and shouldn't be able to screw poor people over by charging what they do, for as dumpy as those apts are.The apts across from Kingwood High School should go next.  They are full of mold and should be leveled.  I'd rather a business make money over a slum lord.

HEB has wanted to build on that plot for a very long time, it was even an internal rumor when I worked there 7 years ago. You can imagine though HEB won't build a drab brick monstrosity like the new Kroger, if they do build it will be very nicely designed to compliment the area. 4951
