I moved to the "Liveable Forest" this past January and thought I would share a few observations about my time here:I like the slower pace of KW compared to when I lived in the West Houston area.Despite the slower pace, Kingwood Drive may be Texas' version of the autobahn...with traffic lights. WestCo donuts might be the best donut shop.  EVER!Chachi's has average food but a pretty darn good bar.  Several have told me that they used to be a place called Rico's or something like that.Triple B's is pretty awesome.I drive by the lake daily but rarely see anyone on the water.  What gives?KW seems to be in the news more frequently as of late...shootings, major traffic accidents, fires, etc.  Maybe I am just more aware of it as a resident. What are some of the go to restaurants/bars in the KW area? 4951

First thing I noticed is that so many people seem to not pay attention to pulling out in front of you on Kingwood Drive, WLH or North Park and don't speed up to the flow of traffic. This has to be the #1 cause of accidents in Kingwood and why NP is always so slow.  4951

Welcome to Kingwood!  You will love it here for the most part.  Everything you need is just around the corner from your house.  I hardly ever travel out of kingwood for anything!Food is great up here, if you love texmex I am partial to El Charro next to the randalls at WLH and KW dr.  But thats just me.  They have a huge fajita family order that says feeds 4-5 well we always feed about 6-8 with it.Donuts, no one beats Dunkin in my book!crime yes has been in the news alot lately but my opinion is because too many are moving in from the city of houston into our cheap housing at certain apartments and we have section 8 housing here.  Many out of state real estate owners bought up a lot of property that were in foreclosure, they in turn made them low rent or section 8.  When you do this, I believe you end up with what you pay for! or in these cases charge forMolly's is a great hang out, so is Pops Ice house both on 494. 4951

We switched places, just moved from kingwood to west houston.
It is busier over here but the food choices are awesome!
This place looks rougher than kingwood probably due to lack of trees but I hear less crime overall. Kingwood's gem is this forum. Enjoy. 4951

As a fellow Red Raider, it's time I give you some advice:

1. The donut place on Northpark in the same strip center as Philly Cheesesteaks has the best donuts in the KW area.

2. Triple B's is naz-T

3. Mexican food here in the area is mediocre at best, outside of Tita's Taco House. However, they are only open from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm and closed Su days.

4. Kingwood is not as "safe" as people make it out to be. It's a pretty town, but not safe at all. No city is, really.

5. Welcome to Kingwood. I'm outta here at the end of July. Keep the Raider Nation strong here in Kingwood.

Peace OUT!

I think Kingwood is relatively safe. I don't feel in danger every time I leave the house. @Jax - do you live in Kingwood? Beaver Cleaver and his family don't live here but that type of safe feeling went out in the 60's. 4951

We moved to Kingwood last September and we love it! We were living in Baytown and could not stand it. Before we moved into an apartment in Baytown, we asked for crime reports from the BPD. Camden had the least amount of crime activity. Within the first 6 months, our sliding door was shot out by two guys chasing each other. Another incident involved a neighbor shooting someone in the foot and destroying vehicles with an assault rifle because they were talking trash. It is disappointing to hear about crime in this area, but there is no escaping it and it could be worse.  4951

We've lived here since' 06 and I travel for a living.  I find the news is pretty much the same wherever I go, same kind of crimes, etc. .  But we love Kingwood!  It feels like home. It is home. Even though I am an 'adopted Texan"., from the north.  People are great, you have what you need around the corner, or go alittle further if you want more or different.  And it is beautiful.   There is no perfect place on this earth. But it is up to  each of us,  to do what we can do to make our" little world" a little better. Welcome! 4951
