Ok, DH & I both have a 3 day weekend next weekend & want to go somewhere. 3-4hrs sounds ideal for a drive but I'm flexible. We need to go ahead & book our stay but we have NO clue where we're going or what we want to do. He's kind of leaving it up to me but I'm lost so I need help. We like naturey & adventurous, but we also like plush & luxurious. Neither of us are big shoppers so malls or antiquing aren't really our thing, we like weird things as well as things as well as things we can't necessarily do here. ANY fun suggestions are greatly appreciated. Nothing's grabbed my attention so far which kind of bums me out. :/ 4951

@heathur go to Austin. Stay anywhere. Shop at Uncommon Objects & then go to Blackmail on South Congress (it's a store where the tag line is "Black is the new Black"). Oh and if you like Indian food, go have dinner at the Clay Pit, they have mind blowing Chicken Korma!

Then for a nature outing go swim in Jacobs Well. It's a really scary/exhilarating place! I think they've built a preserve around it, so check with the tourism office to see if there are operating hours.

@jax:
Is lake Charles pretty? What is there to do there? Name of a resort/ hotel/ cabins??

What is there to do in San Antonio other than the Alamo, riverwalk, & farmers market? I feel like we've done all there is to do there & want something new & exciting. Name of resort/ hotel?

Where in east Tx? Any B&B suggestions? What is there to DO other than... sleep... in the B&B. Emoticon

Deep sea fishing sounds like a blast, but somewhere other than Galveston.

Walk the beach- again, want something new & not Galveston. A more specific suggestion?

DD & DH are going to the disAstros game today while I put in overtime at work. It's free jersey day.

We've thought about this. We go to New Braunsfels & Gruene all the time but not to float the river. I think this is our fall back plan if nothing better comes along. 4951

@heathur Ya the cliff has a few different levels to jump off of. Jacobs Well has a really neat history, it's depths have never been charted. Because the water is coming up from underground, when you jump in, it pushes you back up. It's usually quite cold, but not uncomfortable. My ex's family live walking distance away, that's how I heard about it. For a long time, only locals knew where it was because it was removed from any maps to prevent people from trashing it. Now I believe it's protected, but there are times when the water is low so do your research before driving out. It's maybe an hour or less from Austin. 4951
