Teens don't ask their parents for guidance anymore. Their peers have all the answers...

Our teen wants us to trust her and have confidence in her decisions and choices....... If you can not make good everybody choices... Like keeping your room clean, doing chores without being told.... Why should I trust you with any choices... Prove to me that there s something more important in your life than you.... Then we will talk.... 4951

I am very thankful that my daughter is comfortable speaking to my hubby and me about things that are going on in her life, and she is pretty good about asking for and taking our advice. I'm sure there are things she keeps between her and her friends, but that's normal. I can tell you I have been absolutely god smacked by some of the things she has told us; thankfully these things didn't involve her!  4951

@StartingOver: How old is she? I'm sure how ever old she is, she's not nearly as grown up as she'd like to think she is Emoticon

My two kids are in their mid 20s and somewhere along the line (in recent years), they realized that mom and dad DO know some stuff.  I don't give un-solicited advice, but I am always available to give advice or suggestions when asked.  I have to bite my tongue sometimes, but I have to let them make their own decisions. 4951

I make my choices I chose not to tarnish my body from drinking or smoking like most people are doing but I'm Catholic if you understood that then you would know why I always say stuff I know right from wrong because I have a good relationship with God so like I said I'm always truthful but are you? 4951

@Retired_Engineer: I think I will always give unsolicited advice. The boys will be 18 next month *gasp* so I give them words of wisdom, hope they are listening, and allow them to make their choices. Idk if boys ever ask their mom for advice. I ask my mom everyday, lol!

I feel very lucky that my almost 18 y/o DD still asks me for advice on how to do stuff.  My almost 14 y/o DS doesn't ask me for anything unfortunately.  4951
