I am working on a project to collect as many books as possible for a
new library that recently opened in Tuttle, Oklahoma. This library is
operated and funded by volunteers and from what I hear, they are in
desperate need of books.My family and I are planning
to drive to Tuttle to personally deliver as many books as we can
collect, and I wondered if Kingwood residents might be able to donate
books they no longer want or need. The books need to be in good
condition, but I think that all titles would be welcome.Our tentative plan is to drive to Tuttle on either July 11, or July 18. I have a contact there who has put me in touch with the library volunteers.I can arrange to pick up any donations prior to that time or meet you in a central location. The HEB parking lot comes to mind.If you have any other ideas for how our Kingwood community could help this library, I'm very open to suggestions. 4951

Do you have an location address and phone number and contacts of this library. Our area libraries are also non profit and use donations to pay for all the activities it offers the community and their children, especially their summer programs.

Yes:Tuttle Library ProjectP.O. Box 383Tuttle, OK 73089This library is in a town of 6000 people and up until recently they had to drive into Oklahoma City to go to a library. There is no public funding for this, although the volunteers have hosted various fund-raisers.I'm not aware of any library being for-profit. 4951

@Burnsway: Kingwood library always needs good books for their little store. I like to keep donations local if possible

Best of luck on your venture though.

Half price books claims to donate to libraries, check with the closest one to them and they may ship books to them....libraries are usually as successful and productive as their community wants them to be. 4951

That's a good idea. I'm connected with a few author organizations and many of them are sending their books directly to the library. One group did a book drive for military personnel overseas and they are helping with this as well.I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for book lovers and libraries.I'll contact Half Price. Thanks for the suggestion. 4951

@topcat:

Every penny they make in the folk store goes to all those great programs and classes they have. You know I take full advantage of the children's programs at both kingwood and tullis......so keep on donating....ha!

That's a great idea. I usually donate locally as well, but we are so blessed here in Kingwood. I think sending books to OK won't leave us high and dry. Keep me posted to when you will be collecting books and I'll send some your way. 4951

I know that once I get these boxes unpacked, I'll have books. Just not sure it will be in time for the OK trip, but I'll keep the local library in mind then! 4951
