>> Hmm, I see to many cyclists NOT obeying the rules of the road, they think stop signs and stop lights don't apply to them and they never hand signal. So yeah cyclists are idiots and should not be on the road if they can't follow the basic rules...
@Mccrj: I am a cyclist and sadly I agree with you. I always follow the laws. There are like minded cyclists and we really are trying to get others to ride safely.
Having said that- I see more drivers ( while I'm driving and while I am cycling) that break the laws or driving while distracted than I do cyclists. I think the cyclists are just more obvious because drivers don't expect to see bicyclists on roads. By law we are allowed to ride on the road and are considered vehicles. Now common sense prevents me from riding on NP, WLH and Kingwood Dr- you really take your life in your hands doing that
@Jpgurl: Yes I know legally you can ride on the right side of the roadway, but why would you cycle in suburbia it's a death wish, between the teen drivers, soccer moms running late, people texting while driving etc. you really are taking your life in your hands. There is plenty of nice bike trails in Houston or stay on the sidewalks, greenbelts. I know my response is probably unpopular but who cares. I regularly pull a trailer and you just can't swerve 10,000 lbs. to avoid cyclists especially when they are riding in the center of the lane and not against the curb. Something funny to see is a cyclist trying to ride and text, yes I have seen this too, swerving all over the road you will be hit and possible killed. To the op does your room mate have a white light and a red reflector/ light of their bike?
