$770 for 1 crown, really??? My insurance will only pay $280 of that. I just can't afford that right now, so I guess my tooth will just have to rot a while LOL...sigh 4951

I feel your pain!  Kingwood is ridiculous with dental work!  I have actuallly resorted to look outside of kingwood for dentist.  Told the one in Atascocita behind the 99 cent store is cheaper.  I have been seeing the new one in Porter by the walmart and he's a little cheaper and works with you. 4951

If I had it to do all over again, I'd go to dental school! They seem to make the most with the least overhead. And since traditional insurance doesn't really pay that much (except for preventive care), they don't have much paperwork in filing for the big ticket items. I'm sure most dentists in the KW area will let you pay it out over time, though. I'd been a faithful patient of Woody Barksdale in KW for many years. I wouldn't think of going to anyone else if I still lived there. He's not cheap but he's very good and will accommodate very early morning appts if you're in pain. 4951

I was listening to an article on NPR the other day talking about how people were driving down to Mexico for dental work. You might considering doing the same. 4951

I would be willing to travel to Livingston, Porter, Cleveland, Huffman. Does anyone know of one that might charge less? I have heard that Dr. Nader in Livingston is good. 4951

Crowns are expensive. That price doesn't sound too far off the norm. I had 2 crowns put in over 15 years ago and they cost about that much back then. Several years ago, I had to have one replaced and Dr. Stellenwerf made the replacement. He did an excellent job. Having a perfectly fitting crown is much more important than having a reasonably priced one. If it isn't made properly, it can throw your whole bite off. 4951

You know some dr's in other countries come here to America to get their schooling and degree's.  Then they go back home to help their country.  They dont have all the high expensive prices we have here for things like mal practice insurance and equipment.  That is another reason other countries are so cheap 4951

My hubby had a lot of work done in Kingwood....very expensive. Now that all the major work is done have moved to affordable smiles. They are a medicaid office so if you go make your appts early! Like opening time. Great dentist there! 4951

MY problem is that the dentist in Kingwood keep better than banker hours. I work and need dental work but most close @4pm & a few close @ 5Pm. No night or weekend hours.  I'll pay I just want better hours. One dentist I would like to go to not only works 9-4 but likes his quarterly vacations. 4951

We go to Lovett Dental in Humble.  We have never needed any major work done, but they seem fine for fillings, and there are no poor reviews for them online.  I vowed to stay away from chain places, but I liked the dentist there, and just got a good feeling about them.  We are doing wisdom teeth there next month, so I'll give you the ultimate report after that.If you ever need cosmetic dentistry, like  a crown in the front, Susan Lunson is amazing! 4951

Be careful with Lovett Dental. My MIL had a horrible time there. Had to go back 3 times to get something done correctly. Luckily my mom was a dentist so she tells me her favorite dentists. I go to Dr. Gould in Houston off 610. He does have worse then banker hours and is not cheap but I can trust him. I went to some quack here in Kingwood who told me I needed 3 crowns, 2 teeth pulled, a partial where those teeth were pulled and a root canal. All for only $8700 with insurance. I went right back to Dr. Gould and all he saw was 5 fillings and another filling he said he would try to fix but it might turn into a crown since it was so near the gum line. This was all after getting my braces removed. Well 9 years later and never have had a problem. Price isnt everything if you can get someone who cares about you and your pocket book. Also be warned of the dentist by Walgreens on WLH and KWD.  4951

Rent & Non acceptance of Medicaid?

Haven't been in 21 years. Never had a cavity or anything other than slow growing wisdom teeth. Luckily they all fit perfectly. I guess some people get lucky with teeth, others skin, etc.... 4951
