Any of you had any experience using any of the headlight restoration kits?  Any recommendations?   I am looking at the MOTHERS 7251 NuLens Headlight Renewal Kitand the 3M 39008 Headlight Lens Restoration System 4951

waste of money imo try toothpaste

@mm4731: Toothpaste and a rag?  or a special buffer of any kind?  any particular toothpaste?   Have you done it and it worked?

I sand headlights with 220-400grit wet paper to start, depending on the severity of the failed hard coating (which is what yellows and gets flaky)Then I move to 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000.Once that is done I use a cutting compound and a wool wheel on the high speed buffer to bring the luster back. Depending on how that turns out I'll use a finish polish and a foam wheel, again on a high speed rotary buffer to bring it to a super high clarity and luster.Finished product should be maintained with cleaner wax (contains mild polish) monthly or when a yellow tinge reappears.Alternatively you can stop at 800, bring them to a body shop and have them shoot them with a coat of  catalyzed clear, which will last years and years before fading. 4951

I used the mothers kit, on my Dodge Avenger ironically enough. It worked awesome & I wished I had found it sooner! It lasted at least a few years, then I sold it so beyond that I have no idea how it held up. 4951

go buy the finest 3M sand paper,, usually blackget a squirt bottle and put windex and dish soap mixture, dilute it with water..... not to thick it needs to spray. spray and scrub... keep spraying the scrub,,,  it takes a little timethen rinse,if you have a buffer, use the buffer to clear it up.my mechanic taught me that,,, after I paid him to do my truck. 4951

@MTechnique: 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport.  It's weird the parking light and turn signal lens are both perfect, they look brand new, on both sides of the truck.  just the headlights are cloudy.
