So I was trying to be a nice hubby and I thought I would charge some more R134a into her AC and try and get it a bit colder.   Initially PSI was about 35 give or take.  when done, probably 40 give or take.   Now, the ac stops blowing cold air intermittently, it will blow cold for a few seconds then you can hear the compressor kick off and it blows reg air,  for about 30 secs or so, then cold again for  a few seconds, then regular for about 30 secs.   I've done some looking and that usually happens after charging when you over charge the system,  But i only but approx another 5psi in.  It is not close to being over charged, so I am going to have to go and take it to an AC place bright an early tomorrow and see if they can evacuate and recharge the AC system, not sure what else to do. 4951

Pressure switch is cutting out the compressor because the high side pressure has gone too high, without a good gauge set you can't see that...

R134a is not ozone depleting. You can purge done off the low side (larger port) with the system not running until it starts working.

Alternatively I own since set of Snap-On gauges and a vacuum pump if needed... 4951

@MTechnique  Yeah I vented from the low port, using the crummy gauge on the DIY can and took it back down to about where it was initially.  Drove it around and it seems to be ok again.  That will teach me to try and do something nice dangit.   She did not ask for it to be colder and I'm sure was perfectly fine with it, but I had to go and try to make it even colder. :-PThanks for the heads up with about the gauges.   IF i ever happened to need to do an actual charging and/or evac and charge I will be sure to hit ya up.  4951

@Nurse3: Her bump fell off? Is she pregnant? I didn't know a bump could just fall off. Good thing that didn't happen to @MAHM. And I doubt duct tape could fix this. 4951

At least most people can understand my accent or lack there of.   It's my typing without filling up with coffee that is lacking. 4951
