I had America's First Choice, and thought very highly of them. Even recommended them to several people.I got an email from thier sub-contract company DCI. DCI went out of business and cancelled my contract. I called AFC and asked them whats going on. I was told that if I wanted to continue coverage, I would have to purchase an new policy.In 2012 I paid $1190 for 3 years of coverage. I had 2 claims, which DCI paid out $2170 in repairs. Now AFC says since I was paid out, for repairs, they dont owe me anything, and they want me to start a new policy for $475 a year,,, (discounted price), or $1095 for 3 years. WTF?????Does anybody have a good home warranty company they have had dealings with? I like having a home warranty, but this is so wrong. I will not go with American Home Shield, they didnt fix crap when I called them. 4951

@KTownTexican: Should of talked to me first  or looked at all the complaints on Ripoff.com... They are the biggest scammers, no matter what name they are using & there are plenty of names..................

I am not a fan of the home warranty companies.  My a/c person told me that they are a rip off.  They will repair but will not replace even though the item should be replaced.  I would rather set aside money for repairs than to sign up with one of those companies. 4951

I have used home warranty companies in the past, and have good results with them. They replaced my hot water heater with a new model. It was an industrial model whch cost $1100. I got it installed and paid about $200 out of pocket.I had my AC repaired because the computer went out. I have an older model and it cost $750 for the part. I only paid $75 for them to come out.Yes home warraties are good and bad. It all depends. But when you have limited funds, as I do. I would rather pay the $600 for a year, and have them come fix things. I am not a super fan, but they are handy to have.I am switching to First American Home,, did research, they are rated one of the best. With my luck I i wll have to call them for something to fix. 4951

We have Old Republic (just got it with the purchase of our home on May 30). Fast forward a week and came to find out that the motor in our a/c blower went. Called OR on Saturday and their a/c company came out on Monday, checked out the whole system and replaced the motor for my $60 fee.  For us, I have no complaints, but the year is still young. lol Good luck! 4951

@ctl74: Just wait until you have to renew. You are not allowed to change any services on your existing policy and they only give you one rate which is 595/yr. We are not renewing and will put money aside if something needs repairing.

@FoFa:
I just went to First American,,, I must have been on the phone for over an hour. I kept asking questions and basically telling the rep, I didn't trust any company now. She kept telling me, more what to offer, but I would refuse, and act like I didn't care, what she said, I was not trusting them. I tried to trip her up, and asked stupid questions. She stayed true. I questioned her contract, and the issue with previous repairs, etc... I will not buy a contract up front for 3 years. I am paying monthly from now on. I called that AFC, and they told me to call DCI. DCI is now out of business and no way to contact them. I have called AFC several times. I even filed a complaint with BBB and with Ripoff.com.  What irritates me the most, is that AFC knew about this last year and since January this year, they have stopped doing business with DCI. 4951
