For the past week, my internet, and phone have been cut off several times a day. First it was the internet, and now its the phone line as well. This is a risk to my security system.I have had to Re-Set my modem box SEVERAL times a day. I call Suddenlink and they cant figure it out and are sending a tech, something about spiking signals. I have had nothing but trouble with this phone and internet. I have already had the modem replaced, now its acting up. I am saving money by bundling, other wise I would be paying more. Does anybody use other phone and internet service? I cant use satellite because of the trees.I am so sick of this. 4951

We switched to directv and have NEVER been happier. Yes, it goes away during rain for just little whiles. (Not sure if that's the right way to say that) but we like our new cable service very much

Directv does bundles if not they will work it out so that you have everything you want at near bundle prices. 4951

Mine used to do that when my AC cycled on and off a lot.  Also, I have a room HEPA  filter that caused blips when I ran it for a few hours.Any strong electrical motor can add a charge to the line and cause degradation and then failure of the cable signal.I explained that to the techs many times, and none of them had a clue about how that worked (electromagnetic Interference).  Didn't believe me or understand.  Sigh......  I get that a lot when I try to explain simple things like that.  Frustrating.  Very.  Every single fing day.Anyway, I resolved the issue by relocating the incoming line myself, away from my outside AC unit.Also, the new docis 3 cable modem handles the EMI better as well.Short term fix for you, is to unscrew the cable connection into the modem, tap the inner connector of the cable against the outside of the connector on the modem itself.  Then plug it back in.  That works better than just resetting the modem or turning it off and on. 4951

that may be it,,, may have to have the line moved, due to it being right next to the AC fans.Sounds like the issue.. Question why would it start now. It never did this in the past? 4951

@KTownTexican: Mine was always far worse in the summer due to rapid cycling and heavy use of the AC.
as to why this summer, could be a number of factors.  AC issues, cable modem degrading, neighbors with a new pool filter, etc.  Too many variables to diagnose a cause. 4951

@Odin:
I am going to tell the tech about this,, maybe he can move the internet and cable box, away from the AC fan. I also did some research,, several modems have been known to just give up. I also did research, and it has something to do with the spike in Electricity,, usually when the AC unit kicks on. time to move! 4951

I've been told, by Suddenlink techs, that they buy their equipment from Comcast - basically, the equipment is old and crappy.  We just signed up for DirectTV and I went to Suddenlink to get internet and phone - they promised me "great rates - better than the direct mail piece you just received in the mail". They called and told me it would around $95 (with taxes) for 30mbps and phone. WTF?? I told them I had an offer for 30mbps plus wifi for $33/mo (before taxes); phone is another $20+. We've never had major issues with Suddenlink's equipment or interruptions; ust major issues with their marketing and ridiculous rates. 4951

Our internet has been in and out for the last week as well.  I was told they are upgrading the lines, that may be causing interruption. Who knows? 4951

@BBQguy: Is that your cost for DirectTV, phone and internet? Our "special" with DirectTV is $66/mo alone for the first year...

Ok,, update.. A Suddentlink Contractor came out and hopefully fixed it.He said it was a connector. He said that he has been working in the Kingwood area for 2 years, and have never seen any connnector which I had. They have new ones with a rubber boot, to secure it. The old connector was rusted. see how things go. 4951
