Who wants to have a weight loss contest with me? I know...I know...I should just want to for myself, or my family. I'm a slightly competitive person by nature, and it's always made me perform better at whatever I was trying to accomplish. I've tried dieting here and there with minimal success before, but I'm in need of more than that. I've been very passive with it, because there hasn't been many repercussions. I'd like to drop some weight before there are. Being from a big(fat) family, it's normal and accepted. And don't get me wrong...I don't mind being a 4XL, but it has a few drawbacks. I don't expect pity or anything, as I know this is my doing. I just thought it would help me(and others) if there was some friendly competition involved. I've heard of other people that have done it at their work or church, so I thought, why not try it here?!  4951

Hypnotherapy might help if you don't have a lot of motivation.  There is a new thing called virtual lap band.  850 for 7 sessions.  In the sessions they make your brain think you have had the surgery.  www.hypnomike.net/vg b.html 4951

I feel your pain.  I am a big guy too and have been losing weight.  I've dropped 32 lbs is the last 10 weeks and plan on keep going.  It's hard but you can do it. 4951

@BBQguy,Good luck, man!  Whatever works for you!  If having a partner/competitor works for you than do it!  I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would love to have the motivation of knowing someone else is busting their butt as well.  Personally, the solitary thing works for me the best.  I hit the gym, the headphones go in, the music goes up, and I don't talk to anyone.  DW works at a gym and I don't even like working out with her!  LOL I'm a strong believer in the saying, "Nothing tastes as good as being fit feels".You can do this!!! 4951

We can be your cheerleaders @BBQGuy.  I know of a couple who would even wear the skimpy cheerleader outfit, uber short skirt and maybe forget choice undergarments from time to time...but I'm not naming any names. 4951

@shodan66: I don't know if it'll work, but I figured it couldn't hurt. Thanks for the encouragement. Emoticon

@donnatella: Well, thank you..That's so nice, and really what I was hoping for when I posted this. That, and the fact I'd have to lose quite a bit of weight before I could do a shower meet-up. Emoticon

@BBQguy.....Dude........Most of us have this exact battle, my friend - You Are NOT Alone...........Try keeping a notebook or a scratch pad around and keep track of what your daily calorie intake is, as well as what you're consuming...........Keep lots of fresh fruit, veggies and healthy snacking options on hand.........Make a meal planner - AND stick with it......   .....Take a stroll every evening (or first thing in the morning)..........Portion Control - Try cutting back on portion sizes...........And don't be so hard on yourself..... ....You've already made the first step by just admitting that you'd like a more healthier you..........Now, make the commitment & Hold yourself accountable.........I'm proud of you! 4951
