Pep-Boys on NP. I sat for an hour for an oil change, there was one guy in front of me. When I finally checked on the progress, I realized they hadn't even pulled my car into a bay yet. Emoticon
Had to demand my keys back, now I'm at Kings Crossing.

@OhHappyPets:   Astrology?!?I am not a fan of Pep Boys.  We normally use Kings Crossing car Care for oil changes.

Never been to Pep Boys.  All my oil changes are done at Kingwood Service Center, WLH and Northpark. 4951

oil changes themselves anymore?
@WskyTngoFxtrt: Probably not many people.  It's hardly worth the time and effort. 4951

@WskyTngoFxtrt:   I used to, but now you have to transport the oil to some place that will accept it.

My husband does, but he doesn't always have the time with his work schedule. It would be a good skill to learn, though! 4951

I always do my own oil changes, apparently trust worthy or not you never know what you're actually getting when you take it in.I did an oil change for a customer the other day in his 2004 325i which he had been taking to a national chain oil change store to get that service done. He paid for premium synthetic and filter, whatever I drained out wasn't synthetic and the filter was the cheapest Chinese POS I've ever seen. The filter element was a fragile as ice. It was already crumbling in the housing and came out in a hundred pieces.Be very very cautious who you entrust this service work to. It is the absolute most important maintenance you can do for the longevity of your car.Garbage in, garbage out. 4951

I would never take my car to one of the national/regional change places.  They're always in a rush to get you in and out, unless they can convince you to purchase additional services.  You do routine maintenance as well as repairs? 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Same here - it's a hassle trying to find a place and easily transport it there.  I still do my truck on occasion but 2.5 gallons of Rotella comes flying at you pretty fast.   It used to be so easy until it became frowned upon to just dump the oil down the storm drain.  Thanks a lot, Obama!

@TXSunDvl: I honestly prefer to not do oil changes unless its part of a larger service, like say replacing a bad oil level sender, or a leaking oil pan gasket that necessitates exchanging the fluid. No other reason than it only takes a few minutes and there is no money to be made there. Exceptions are always made for regulars though.Any storefront that sells engine oil should also accept used engine oil for recycling. I know all auto parts stores should, Wal-Mart does, even Jiffylube is generally happy to just take it from you. They get paid for it as a commodity when the pump truck visits. No much mind you, but a little!
