@FoFa: Don't you have to be vaccinated to travel oversees? I'm confused!

Many more parents are opting out of various vaccinations. They believe the vaccinations cause autism, depression, cancer later in life, etc... 4951

I believe it is a parent's right to make choices for their child, but the choice to set them up for serious illness later on is just insane and unforgivable.

The evidence is just not there to support that vaccinations do anything but protect children. Then you have parents who will mindless follow anything they hear a celebrity preach and squawk about on TV, instead of doing the research themselves.

Well of course illnesses like this, that used to be a thing of the past, are returning with a vengeance. Parents need to get off the couch, turn off the TV and listen to their doctors instead of the clueless bimbos on TV when it comes to the health and well-being of their children. Just because Oprah or Madonna or Blonde Bimbo #25 steps on the soapbox does not mean you have to follow. 4951

People blame the fact that others opt out of vaccines. Truth be known many dont realize that MMR is not a life time protector. Its a 20 year protector...hence why we are seeing a all time break out in 20 years.Doctors forgot to mention that little tidbit when vaccinating us all into super bugs for 2-3 decades.Leave it to the media to blame so called crazy anti vaccine people as being at fault.http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vaccinations/Pages/mmr-questions-answers.aspx#longHow long does protection from MMR last?It seems to be very long lasting.Virtually everyone (more than 99%) will be protected against measles and rubella for more than 20 years after two doses of MMR.Protection against mumps after two doses of MMR is a little lower (90-95%) and appears to gradually decline. Mumps in vaccinated people is, however, much less likely to lead to complications such as meningitis or orchitis (painful swelling of the testes) and vaccinated people are less likely to require admission to hospital.     4951

So before blaming parents for not vaccinating there kids, how many of you that are over 25 have been re-vaccinated??????Go get your shots today if its been over 20 years, Big Pharm needs more money....if not, dont blame the anti vaccine crowds. Or accuse parents of medical neglect.yes I had a MMR booster right here in good old kingwood 18 years ago when we had a small break out because I was running an in home daycare and felt at high risk. Stood in line for 6 flipping hours ON MY BIRTHDAY with 6 kids in tote for the same shot. Probably the last I will get unless we have a secluded area breakout.Do any of you old timers remember that little scare..... They were vaccinating kids AND parents at the pools and at the kingwood hospital(may have still been the big failed mall then, cant remember...roflmao) 4951

I've had the measles..Not once, but twice!! I was 3 the first time, and the second one was at 15. The latter put me in the hospital for 5 weeks. After the first incident, my parents were told I couldn't get it again. At the time of the second they were told it does happen sometimes, but I don't recall any specific percentages. What I do remember is a 105 fever, being quarantined, drinking my meals because my throat was almost closed, a rash that was all over the outside AND inside of my body, having to wear sunglasses just to watch tv, and my family having to visit me by looking through a window after the sun had gone down. Get the vaccination, people!!  4951

I had the measles twice, both were called something different, the german measles and the 3 day or something like that.The longest one was during the JFK funeral, so not only was I bed ridden, and we only had a B/W TV, we also only had 3 channels, and all of them had JFK's funeral on them.Not a good time to be like 5 or 6 and sick. 4951

@angiekaye: Actually having them is the only for sure life time vaccine except in maybe 1 in  a few million like the case in the post above.....LOLBut from what Im reading its only been like 300 cases and NO DEATHS.....we are a pretty populated country...300 cases in the whole country is pretty low IMO

There is no other way to explain the fact that they hit an all-time low WITH most everyone vaccinated and now being on the rise again as the number of unvaccinated people rises. There will always be unvaccinated visitors and travelers coming and going, but the wave of trendy "don't vaccinate" scare tactics is the leading cause. 4951

@donnatella: There are other explanations of an all time 20 year high.....I explained it.....how many of you adults have not got a booster when it's been over 20 years? More adults are walking around unvaccinated than children. I Agree totally that BOTH sides use scare tactics for their agenda but it's not fair to blame parents of unvaccinated kids as the reason when more adults have not gotten their booster than kids who are not vaccinated. Both my kids are fully vaccinated but I spread it out over 6 years not 2 years for safety issues. I don't believe in shooting our kids up with several at once. If your worried about the outbreak, check your records, if it's been over 20 years get your booster. I told my oldest that it's up to her but in 3 years she will no longer be vaccinated against MMR. IT upsets me that unless your pregnant , doctors never ask.....and very few tell adult patients they are no longer vaccinated against these things but yet are the first to blame UN vaccinated kids as the fault of these outbreaks. 4951

US population = all time high
Measles =all time high
Is the CDC going by # of cases, or by %? Maybe the number is actually an all time low. I don't remember if the OP had that info or not. Just something to think about. 4951

Haven't we already discussed this?I don't think people are getting ALL of their information from blonde bimbos on TV. They are getting  information from real doctors and scientists who have decided to blow the whistle on the ABC agencies and their true motives.  The CDC uses scare tactics. And they are being used by those who can profit from those scare tactics.The last time I checked, Dr. Mercola is not a celebrity. Read a few of his articles.Why is it not considered "blind trust" to trust the mainstream doctors whose 10 year education was sponsored by and heavily influenced by the drug companies and their "standard of care."Big Pharma is a profit driven industry. I am not saying they are always wrong though. I take OTC meds and prescribed meds when absolutely necessary. I know there are scientists who have worked tirelessly to find cures (well, mostly treatments), then the FDA bastardizes their efforts and looks at what will yield the biggest long-term profit. Watch the movie "Extraordinary Measures." Pay close attention to the phrase "acceptable loss."I won't follow anyone blindly. Not a doctor, not an activist. No one. I will read as much as I can from every perspective and draw my own conclusions.  I wish others would do the same. 4951
