I got a  new job across town.   I don't like an hour plus commute depending on weather and traffic both ways.  That is time off my life I'll never get back.  I drove from Clear Lake to here for two years after getting a job here.  Once we moved ( two years in to the job) up here we wondered why we didn't do it sooner and save all that time.  So this time we feel go ahead and sale since it is summer and market is good.  Found a rental home near work while we get to know the area but having a hard time sending in the lease application and haven't put the sign out on har.com  or in the front yard to sale this one...  It is better to do it now than to drive it a yr or more and then do it anyway but we are finding it hard to make official.  On a side note.  We need moving boxes.. : ) 4951

@TXSunDvl: I know a lot of people who said they would just drive it and a lot of people who do drive long distances for work.   After the two years of driving south to north I was so exhausted and mean from stress related to driving and less free time and sleep (recoup time from work) that we really needed to move.  I felt I was only sleeping and working/ driving during the week and to exhausted to do anything on the weekend.  I think I take traffic to seriously and stress out while driving to much (I don't get road rage or mad).  I  drive very defensively always scanning the cars around me.  I guess we all deal differently with it.

DH works in Stafford. The drive is a *****, and the time he has to spend in the truck takes away from our family time. But...we love this area and don't want to live on the west side. 4951

@hardzep: I work in the O&G business, and have experienced several periods of company consolidations.  I work where I do now because my prior company got bought out.  At the time, I just figured that as soon as I move out west, we'd get bought out by a company with offices down town.  Besides, we like Kingwood. 4951

When we moved here, I knew I would be working in west Houston (near Westheimer and Hwy 6), but I could end up downtown, or in Deer Park.  We picked Kingwood so my commute would only get better with my next assignment.  I car pooled to west Houston.  Everybody but the driver slept on the drive in.  We would talk on the drive home.  We even got approval from out bosses to start 30 minutes early so we could leave 30 minutes early.  That helped avoid the worst of the traffic. 4951

I drove from Kingwood to Sugarland everyday when my kids were babies......  I got laid off and accepted a job in Kingwood... The pay was less but the difference in our lives totally made up for it!!!  I love my job and I loved that I could get to my kids schools quickly if needed....  Peace of mind.... Priceless !! 4951
