EDIT: Donations are no longer being accepted! This is a message from my facebook page from a friend in Atascocita. Please, if you have any item(s) to donate then they would greatly appreciate it. I just got off of the phone with the church and they are still unsure of what is all needed however I will post an update once more info is available. "Dear Humble/Kingwood/Atascocita friends! There was an apartment fire this morning behind la Villa here in Atascocita. The victims lost everything. Atascocita United Methodist Church opened up their gym for the victims. I just received an email from Mrs Darla that the families have nothing, they are in immediate need of diapers, snacks, shoes, Water, clothing. If you can help please contact them. 281-852-0967. Many hands make a light load, together we can help!" 4951

@Angie1002:

Just called the number because I have baby clothes and lots of diapers. They said the red cross is working with them and they've put taking any more donations on hold because they've gotten so much already. Good news for them!! 4951

This is a terrible tragedy. The communities here are so so good at pulling together in times of trouble! I'm very happy that help has already arrived for those folks.  4951

Great news, and some advice needed, I had 2 full garbage bags of men's clothes ready to bring up, from my last closet cleaning, these are all nice, some I've never wore, or only wore a couple times, a lot of nice dress shirts/polo's/button downs and shorts/slacks/jeans (tshirts and faded clothes got thrown in my rag bag). Where's the best place to bring these where they'd do some good? 4951

@cador: There is an awesome service that will come and pick up items to be donated right from your doorstep. I have donated multiple times. Go to http://www.clothingpickup.com/ and sign up.

@cador:

I just used charityclothingpickup.com to haul off 2 huge boxes of clothes for me. They sort through it and take it to different charities in the area depending on what they need at the time. I hadn't used them before but it was nice to have them take it from my front porch for me.

I would have liked to have taken it directly to a local place, but the boxes were way too big and heavy for me to move. And they wouldn't fit in my suv. I still have a giant box of shoes and purses I need to have them come and get. 4951

@GoldenGirl:

The people I used don't call ever. They will email you to tell you they're going to be in the area, and ask if you have anything. But that's all. 4951
