I've been in the VA health care system for 8 years. My exposure to the VA been has been limited to the COPC and pharmacy. Went to VA hospital 2-3 times while in the system for outpatient dermatology treatment. Based on my limited exposure to the VA (outpatient clinic) the professionalism, courtesies, ease of appointments, office visits, labs, etc., my experience has been exemplary. Looks like dealing with the hospitals for major issues is another story. Comments, please? 4951

@railroaderI agree with you.  I have been going to the VA for several years and have had a couple serious procedures done.  My care has always been top notch.  I have been to both the Houston and San antonio VA hospitals. 4951

I have been going to the VA in Houston and hubby goes to the Conroe clinic, never had any major issues.  I LOVE my doctor at the VA!!!  Hubby has had issues getting in contact with the Conroe clinic, but with myhealthevet.com, it makes it much easier! 4951

ntcoovert, your point is well made. Myhealthevet.com is awesome, especially secure messaging. There has been times the COPC team responds same day and never more than beyond 24 hours to my questions and/or concerns. 4951

Yes, but the majority of the problems VA hospitals are having are located in "liberal" states, are they not?

My brother goes to the Med Center VA for heart problems. Even waiting for a blood draw can take up to three hours. He has arrived for a 6 month check up after surgery and it has taken up to 6 hours waiting for less than five minutes with the doctor. 4951

My wife's uncle uses the VA system in Vicksburg and Jackson, MS. He has had numerous health problems (including a broken back) and has received very good care.  He lives in NE LA, so he has a long drive, but he doesn't mind. 4951
