@FallonBoth of my husband's grandfathers served during WWII........One as a fighter pilot with the Marines in the Pacific, and the other as a SGT in the Army..........I never got to meet the one that served in the Marines, as he passed when my hubb was just a new born baby.........But Sgt. L.C. Herron, who proudly served with the U.S. Army, was simply an incredible being.........His unit that he served with helped liberate the camp known as Dachau Concentration Camp.... ....He sadly passed a few years ago, but would speak of the horrors that he witnessed over in Germany...... And he never got over how cold it was in winter over there....  ....He went back twice to Germany on the anniversary of the camp's liberation, and actually got to meet some of the people that he helped basically to save..... ....What all he witnessed and went thru is just completely unimaginable to me.........I can't even comprehend it..... ....He was truly an extraordinary soul - And I miss him very much.........He is, has been, and will always be a true hero in our eyes.... 4951
