so  for years I have spoken to my neighbor 2 doors down . She's an elderly lady in her late 80's maybe even early 90's , she  always seems to have lots of company  & is very friendly . She has lived in this house for  over 45 years & we all assumed her home was paid for . I was sitting in the back yard on the patio when my neighbor across the street came over & asked me if I knew  Margie's house was in the paper , I asked her why & she told me it was in Foreclouser . I was shocked to hear this as Marge has a Cadillac parked in her garage  &  I have been in her home & it is furnished with very expensive furniture . Since she is up in years I'm wondering if  she has forgotten to  make her payments or if she just can not afford the up keep on this large home . Would it be too imposing if  I asked & if it was a question of paying taxes  we could get the neighborhood to come together & pay the taxes if this is the problem . In the paper it states  the home will go up for auction & the starting bid will be $108,000. This is really  cheap because the homes in this area start around  $250,000 & go to $1,000,000 or more it depends on how close you are to the golf course.I do not want to butt  in but I also do not want to loose an old neighbor if there is something  we can do to help her out. She has 3 daughters but she does not get along with any of them so I doubt if they would lift a finger to help her financially . Or should I just butt out & let due process take it's course ? 4951

Find out what caused the house to go into foreclosure and once you have the facts if you still want to organize the neighborhood I say go for it. Helping this woman you would be a hero and champion of the people. They might even turn your likeness into a statue so i say go for it. 4951

At her age, you hate to see the poor woman lose her home.  Elderly people need someone to watch over them because they are not always as capable as you think.  You are really sweet to want to help the woman out.  I say go for it! 4951

I would probably just ask - what can it hurt? Maybe she had a spouse that handled all of the bills. Maybe she just doesn't understand or have the money to keep up and so denial set in? I think, if anything, offering to help - even if it's making phone calls to try to sell the house if that's the only option (ie. she can't afford the house).... anything would be best to try to help keep her best interests first. 4951

Nice of you to want to help, but it sounds like it's too late to do anything since it's going to auction (means the mortgage so has already processed/finalized foreclosure), I doubt its for taxes, but you could pull up the address on HCAD and it will tell you when the taxes were paid, and if they are delinquent. 4951

I know of people where I grew up who lost their homes after doing a reverse mortgage. That may be the case here. 4951
