Ok, my daughters MDO teachers sent home a wonderful book full of photos of her through out the year and a summer fun filled beach bucket. Is it customary to give the teacher a gift at the end of the year? 4951

I was thinking I haven't used the Tervis cup idea yet. Maybe some summer ones filled with Starburst candies?  Or a magazine, beach towel and sunscreen.?   I am terrible with gift ideas.  I usually just give gift cards.    4951

Usually something the child can help with is the best. Doesn't have to be expensive. 4951

My mother-in-law has been a child care/MDO worker for her entire career.  The gifts that seem to mean the most to her are something like a small ($10 ish) gift card to La Madeline or Starbucks or other restaurants that are a treat to go to, or a new mug/cup, with a hand made card from the kid .  My MIL really loves something associated with breakfast since she rarely gets to go out for it.  4951

Agree - my mom and sisters are teachers the worst gifts are nick nacks and coffee cups... Trust me they have tons of those...  My mom most appreciated a small gift card 5-10 starbucks or just a card expressing thanks from the parents and kid....  4951

Too bad someone did not have all of the parent's contribute for the gift.  When my son was young, we did that.  I actually asked the teacher what she needed in the classroom  and she wanted a "learning center."  Another year, we contributed for a rocking chair for the teacher because she would sit on the floor reading to the children.  She loved that gift!  Even a basket with supplies or a gift card to Office Depot.  They are always using their own money for supplies or a basket with children books.  Otherwise, I really think a Starbuck's gift card is great! 4951

Ended up doing Sonics gift cards. Emma helped make a card but then later tore it up when I wasn't looking! Uh-oh.

I teach pre-k.....a gift card is best. I love Tervis tumblers but have a closet full of them, a wallet full of Starbucks gift cards and a lifetime supply of lotions. A hand written note is always appreciated! 4951

Search Pinterest for Teacher Gifts. There's so many great ideas and most bloggers include a free printable card that fits with the gift.  4951

I had Emma make another card this morning after breakfast.  It was beautifully scribbled.  Lol!  4951
