Tell, tell!  I can only imagine!
@Retired_Engineer: When I was a teenager, not old to drive, but close, so 14-15 maybe (it was a long time ago in the early 70's), my dad had a friend who raced funny cars as a hobby (no big name or anything). He invited my dad who asked if I could go also because I was the one into cars, and he said come on down.
So it was a trial or test day (not competition) so he asked dad if he wanted to ride along on a run. Dad jumped at the chance, while I was jealous, but bite my tongue. So his pit crew (bunch of beer drinking friends) pull out the passenger seat, open the body and bolt it, the safety harness etc. in) Dad gets dressed up in the protective clothing, and goes on a run.Dad was speechless pretty much when they got back. His friend looks at me and says since the seat is in, if I get dressed I can go on the second run.I was dressed before they got it ready for run 2.It was noisy, even with the helmet, smelly, dirty, pushed you back in the seat like you could not believe. It was terrifying, exhilarating, and the most fun I have had in about 9 seconds ever.I totally understand why dad was speechless now.It happens so quick, it is amazing.NOISE, smoke, fumes, NOISE, blur, shock when the chute opens, and then you are done.In about the same amount of time to read these two sentences, unless you are a slow reader, then faster. 4951
