I thought under $1300 or so would be cheap apartment rent, but then maybe I'm out of the loop. I honestly don't know anyone paying less that $1300, so I encourage them all to look into buying a home.Â
@donnatella:
ok,,, here is my view..I lived in an apartment for years. my rent went from $750 for a one bedroom to $890 for a 2 bedroom and then eventually was going up to about $1090. So I figured anything close to $1200 it would be better to buy a house,, as an investment they say. I have lived in a house for 2 years. My mortgage is $1300 a month,, I pay a little extra each month. Good call for the investment?Not really,,, my water bill is triple, my electricity is double, I now pay for gas, HOA, maintenance, to the house. I am limited to cable, internet, and phone service. I have now added an alarm. In an apartment I didn't have to worry about the lawn, a house I do. I now live in Harris County and pay higher taxes on everything. There are no taxes on an apartment. I am guessing my mortgage will go up next year, due the taxes being raised this year.Now added the fact that I have moved in with a girlfriend and her boys, does make a difference. However, if we lived in a rental home or an apartment, our costs on several items would be less, and I wouldn't be going broke.So the question is, what is your living environment and lifestyle. I will think more than once, about buying a house. I could live in this house for several years and sell it for a profit, but based on what I have put into this house, and the recent plumbing fiasco, I wish I still lived in an apartment, or rented a house.... next time Im buying a new house, or have one built.each side has its advantages and dis-advantages. 4951
