The top restaurant list inspired someone to ask me for a "top 10 apartments" in the area. I don't know of any published listing like this so I'll leave it up to you all to create one. From our inbox:"Top 10 apts in Kingwood? I live in the Lodge of Kingwood, which is nice but they are raising the rent to $919 for a 1 bedroom apt!" 4951

I'm curious as well, in case I sell my house prior to relocating.

Maybe break the list down by best per dollar, and another list best regardless of cost, and one more.... largest number of women in bikinis by the pool (that's important)

@Drekonix: That is more than my mortgage and I have 2000 sq ft with three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths with 2 car detached garage..... I think it is time for you to look into buying a home,  it would be a lot cheaper. 4951

elm grove apartments may be a little bit old, but it is a small complex and very quiet.  i've lived there for over a year now and love it. 4951

I thought under $1300 or so would be cheap apartment rent, but then maybe I'm out of the loop. I honestly don't know anyone paying less that $1300, so I encourage them all to look into buying a home.  4951

My mortgage is 815 a month for a 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath house. I really can't see paying more than that for an apartment. I'm sure factoring in repairs and yard work would make the apartment somewhat cheaper in the long run, but a house can become an asset, where as an apartment will pretty much remain an expense.

That being said, I have friends in both Discovery and Balla Woods (spelling?) and they're pretty happy with everything. 4951

@donnatella:
ok,,, here is my view..I lived in an apartment for years. my rent went from $750 for a one bedroom to $890 for a 2 bedroom and then eventually was going up to about $1090. So I figured anything close to $1200 it would be better to buy a house,, as an investment they say. I have lived in a house for 2 years. My mortgage is $1300 a month,, I pay a little extra each month. Good call for the investment?Not really,,, my water bill is triple, my electricity is double, I now pay for gas, HOA, maintenance, to the house. I am limited to cable, internet, and phone service. I have now added an alarm. In an apartment I didn't have to worry about the lawn, a house I do. I now live in Harris County and pay higher taxes on everything. There are no taxes on an apartment. I am guessing my mortgage will go up next year, due the taxes being raised this year.Now added the fact that I have moved in with a girlfriend and her boys, does make a difference. However, if we lived in a rental home or an apartment, our costs on several items would be less, and I wouldn't be going broke.So the question is, what is your living environment and lifestyle. I will think more than once, about buying a house. I could live in this house for several years and sell it for a profit, but based on what I have put into this house, and the recent plumbing fiasco, I wish I still lived in an apartment, or rented a house.... next time Im buying a new house, or have one built.each side has its advantages and dis-advantages. 4951

We lived at "The Preserve at Kingwood" when we first moved down here a couple years ago before buying a house.  We liked it there adn they didn't really raise the rent after my lease was up either.  Everyone was easy to deal with and the apartment was really nice.  I think our rent was $900/m for a two bedroom apartment. 4951

I don't plan on buying or building again, until I retire, and move in the country. I want to live in a log cabin away from everybody.Right now my goal is to look towards the future and move on from Houston area, in the next few years. 4951

@sarahbeth6682   my dear friend moved to Elm Grove...thanks to me. And yes, they are older, but they are a bit bigger. She is just having a very hard time with the people running the joint doing what they said they were going to do for the spring: pressure washing the sidewalks and the pool area. the Windows on her apt in general. There is a dead tree on one side and if it goes, the owners are going to have a lot of major repair of many units roofs and other areas. She told me that people don't take their animals out...but let then just poop in  or on the patio area and never clean up. That sucks period.................and I'd hate to pay rent for any place that didn't keep the property up. Just saying 4951

The Oaks across from Creekwood Middle School. I know a few people who have lived there & they always have good things to say about Management.  Very small complex so there is usually a waiting list. 4951
