Most people out there are wanting to drop a few pounds and get in shape. Some actually try while others just day dream about it. I challenge you today to just make ONE small change. Making small changes over time leads to a lifestyle change and a more likelihood to stick to it. A lot of people try the 180 degree approach and drop everything out of their diet. This methods works but only for a short time. One small change at a time. Good luck and if you have any questions about anything just ask!!!!! 4951

I started switching my eating habits b/c I wanted more energy.  I now use coconut/almond milk and only coconut sugar.  I don't really eat a ton of processed food anyway.  Now, if only I could put some muscle on my body Emoticon 4951

I hit my 40 lbs lost mark yesterday & I'm not done. Pretty stoked. Gym 6 days a week, I've never eaten better, & I've got a bad *** support system. My husband, mom, & daughter all go to the gym with me. It's possible. 4951

I agree with @bpillow66. Making a super drastic lifestyle change is only going to burn you out. Take one thing at a time.

Another thing I'd like to add is, let the smallest of results motivate you. Even if you fall short of expectations, you still are on the right track. 4951

There is a lot of truth to that old saying, "you are what you eat." We changed our ways around here, and put healthy ahead of weight loss. We are both losing weight. A certain man( @mgw300e) is losing it a good 10x faster than I am, lol! It becomes real easy to turn down old favorites like cookies or fried pickles when you start feeling amazing and healthy again from clean, fresh foods found in nature. This house is a no Twinkie zone! 4951

I started easy just by replacing refined grains with whole grains.Also cutting out sugars other than natural fruits (not fruit sugar, real fruit).Still use splenda (sucrose) like in my coffee.I have also replaced a lot of the high carb things with green veggies and things over time.Like brown rice in smaller portions than white rice.Hardly eat potatoes any longer.Replace some of my meats in dishes with tofu and mushrooms.But my screwed up knees have stopped me from walking/biking and I have put a few pounds back on. 4951

Yup, I just wanna lose 10 lbs maybe 15 and when I stopped eating my candy and drinking my cokes, it started coming off.. Now if I can get my butt back into running, I'll be happy Emoticon I have some family that always does drastic diet changes, stick with it for a month or two, lose some weight, then right back to normal and they gain it all back plus some.. I don't wanna do that, I like food too much!! Emoticon 4951

@herron1345:

Thanks. Just wanting to live a healthier lifestyle & be a role model for my daughter. I want her to grow up eating right & being active because I didn't & the best way to do that is to practice what I preach & do it myself. My mom's had breast cancer twice, dad has diabetes & high blood pressure. I don't have any of that but I don't want to let being unhealthy contribute to any sort of possible health condition. (My moms oncologist told her that cancer cells feed on fat.) Not only that, my soon to be hubby has a long family history of heart attacks & heart problems as well as high blood pressure. Well he's deathly allergic to aspirin & anti inflammatories which is what they give heart attack patients. He was also eating poorly & showing signs of high blood pressure. I encouraged him to make the change because I want him around for a really long time, lol. And he did! I don't want a thigh gap or to be able to count my ribs, I just want to be healthy. My entire family to be healthy. Not enough people realize how toxic so many of the things that are shown on commercials that people eat daily really are. I just want to live a long time to be around to enjoy a long life with the people I love & be a good role model myself. There was no health scare or conditions, nothing specific brought it on, it's just time to live right.

The job is wonderful, I absolutely love it. The wedding... hectic! So much to do! lol. Just a month away! Getting nervous, but super excited. And my little chicka is her sassy diva crazy awesome self, lol. She's doing good. She's tearing the soccer field up, has a dance recital coming up, is about to bridge to a brownie Girl Scout, & will be a 2nd grader pretty soon! Exciting stuff!! How have you been??? Emoticon 4951

I stopped drinking coke and started walking regularly.  Over time I lost 45 pounds.  I started my weight loss when my son got engaged and have kept the weight off.I have started drinking coke again, but I have maintained my weight loss.  I still have about 5 pounds to go. 4951

I know it doesn't compare and people get frustrated when I mention it but I feel like a blob now that I'm not diving anymore.
I think I'll get a good jog in when I get home though. I need the burn out to help "reboot" my thoughts. 4951

@diverdude, just leike the OP said, small changes over time lead to a lifetime change. It applies to good and bad habits!If you exercised regualrly and stopped or even reduced the frequency or the intensity, unless you change something else to compensate, you might find yourself gaining weight or al least losing some muscle. Find something to replace the outdoor activities you had. 4951
