.......if both were priced right, would you choose an all original untouched classic vehicle thats going to need restoration/work to be driveable,or one that someone has already modified/updated ready to drive ? 4951

@BowtieGuy:

Depends on the car...and whether the work done already is done right and good for the car that it is....again a lot can be forgiven on high value cars such as corvettes or camaros....Fairlane's not so much. 4951

From experience I know you rarely, if ever recover your investment on a restoration, I've just never bought one that someone else has already put their time, money,& ideals into......

Ironically this is a Ford on a chevy chassis & powertrain, prolly the way I would have done it.....but there's just something very appealing about an untouched original.....

@BowtieGuy:

You'll likely have the same cost in either direction, just depends if your willing to do the work and not expect to use the vehicle for awhile, or if you trust/like the previous owner taste in modifications.
Personally I would rather build it myself. I just did this with a car recently bought it for cheap, needed almost everything 6 months later its now a very nice driver.

That's not an uncommon move for some of those old Fords...and its tough work already done...you say it's priced right....sounds good. 4951

@BowtieGuy: I would pick the one that needed work, 100% of the time. I'm almost disappointed that my Jetta never needs anything. Although that means all of the budget goes to upgrades... Maybe it's not so bad, lol.

Actually that's what what my search started out to be, & I've always had a project in the works, but I ran across the completed build by happenstance & now I'm torn...... 4951

Did the owner do that work himself or did he get it that way?  My former neighbor's son had a dark maroon truck like that.  His uncle actually did the bulk of the work. My neighbor and his son struggled with it because neither was mechanically inclined.  It was supposed to be fire-engine red, but the uncle screwed up the paint.  They got rid of it back about 8 or 9 years ago. 4951

This kid did all the work himself. .....he does amazing work & has about 20 vehicles in various stages of build. .....I want a driver, all original or updated......I don't really care for the show car scene, but I respect those that do..... 4951

54 ford? Could be interesting either way. Last oldie I had was a58 apache. My rat project. Easy to work on. Rough ride tho, I wanted to bag it and drop a small block in it. Ended up giving to my son for his 16th birthday. Then he wanted my 3000gt so I traded the truck off for a 3000gt vr4 because I wanted the twin turbo lol.

Only thing I would change on anything from the 50s would be the suspension for sure if your gonna daily drive it. If it's a weekend cruiser id say all original 4951

@Inked:

Exactly. .....its sitting on a mid n 70s model malibu frame & suspension. .....won't be a daily driver so thats what makes the original farm truck more appealing. ......I'm still torn.......
