Does anyone know when the hoa drives around and checks the yards for weeds and tall grass in sherwood trails? Thanks 4951

I would like to know for SWH as well. We let the lawn get a little long and we got another letter. Those guys must have no life. Our lawn looks pretty fab compared to some yards but if its not perfect we get a letter. 4951

The HOA and my landlord drive me crazy.  If I leave my garbage can out over night in North Woodland Hills my landlord gets a letter.  If the landlord drives past my house and sees the garbage can outside she text me to bring it in.

I have called my landlord and the HOA because the house next to me has been vacant for the 5 years I have lived in my house.  They decided the last week of April to come and start cleaning it out.  They now have numerous black bags and cardboard boxes sitting in the driveway.   As far as I can tell nothing is being done about it.

The house on my other side was left to go into foreclosure in August.  We have been maintaining their yard because no one else is.  Nothing being done about that house either. 4951

@dotti573  I know what you mean.  When we first moved into this house we were living out of our camper trailer for a few weeks until closing.  When we took possession of the house it took some time to clean out the camper trailer with 5 people and 3 animals living in it.  We had it in our driveway for a total of 3 days and we got a letter stating that we couldn't have a permanent camper trailer in our driveway.  Come on guys!  We just moved into the house.  My husband and I had already started our jobs and it took a little time to get everything organized including finding a storage place that could accommodate such a larger camper.  That was our first introduction to our hoa.  Then a couple of months later, still trying to get settled into the house by the way, we got another letter stating that we needed to edge the property.  I went out there and there was maybe a dozen runners on the curb.  I could see if things were out of control like some of the lawns around here, but come on!I just feel like someone on there just doesn't like us or something. 4951

@dotti573: In all fairness -  You can't know what is being done with either of those homes.. You would not know if they have gotten letters or not.. Or if it has been turned over to the attorneys.  I have to admit I have left my garbage can out before and that is on me -  but I can also admit nothing looks more tacky when you are showing a home or looking for a home then driving through a neighborhood with trash cans at the street.  Just trying to see both sides.   Thank you for doing the yard next to yours that is awesome!!!

@AllAboutGifts: I don't know. I don't think they do checks on a certain day. I think they are random inspections.

The first half of my street is ridiculous with the blatant violations. I've called about 7 times in the past 2 years and everything looks the same.

The trash can thing I don't understand... Do you eyes catch fire if you see a trash can out  not on trash day?? I always thought that was the stupidest restriction. @ GoldenGirl this was not in a response to your comment, I thought this for a long time. Life too short for HOA BS.......... 4951

Someone on our street is/was on the HOA, so we get letters often.

What annoys me is how we've gotten the trash can on the side of the house letter, but our neighbor always keeps his on the side of his house. 4951

@thegoodwife: Right?! We're also only leasing and we leave our two cans out front at the top of the driveway, by our garage door. We even make sure they stay on the driveway, so as not to ruin the grass underneath. Anyway, my neighbor gave us a heads up about 3 months ago that we'll get fined for them being out front, as they had the same thing happen to them. We've never been informed of anything by the leasing company, the landlord, etc. so, until then, the cans are staying where they are. We were completely on our own when we moved in - I had no idea who the utility companies in the area were or even which mailbox was ours. (I had to stand outside the mailbox one night trying the key in the boxes until I found the right one!) Heck, I didn't even meet the leasing agent until the other day when she came to put the lockbox on - and even then, she never knocked so I ran outside to introduce myself! So, the consequences from the lack of communication does not fall on my shoulders. 4951

@ctl74 Ours were out in the driveway, kind of behind a bush for the first 3 yrs. then we got the letter! So we do keep them in our garage now. Once a friend was loading his pop-up in our driveway & the next day we had a letter b/c you aren't allowed to store boats or RV in your driveway. Someone told me you have 24-48 hours so you can load it. They were quite premature on this. 4951
