Can anyone tell me what kind of bug this is. I'm finding them on my kitchen floor. Most of them weredead but I keep seeing them in this one corner.

Weevil maybe?  Do you have a bag of birdseed, pet food, flour or some other kind of dry good in your pantry that might have an infestation?

@Ally: can't tell if it's a big ant or a termite. Can you look outside by that corner and see what's going on there in the yard?

They may be termites.  Can you put one in a ziplock bag and take it to one of the garden centers - or to someplace that sells chemicals for bugs?  I know there is a bug place next to Italianos on 1960 near 59 4951

@topcat: I did. it's not in the yard it's by the back driveway where there is nothing but concrete. I have Terminix coming on Saturday and I saved some in a bag.

Google "termite" and "weevil" or even "household bug" then look under images, and see which one is close.  If you don't find it on Google, then do the ziploc/garden center idea. 4951

Years ago, we kept seeing small bug in the kitchen and couldn't find the source.  Then one day we opened our bag of birdseed and thousands of weevils were in there.  We had purchased it at Walmart and the bag already had them, then over a couple of weeks or so, they just mutiplied.  We had to vacuum them up and toss out the entire bag.  After that, we never saw another one.

Terminix will for sure diagnose termites.  I cannot stand that company for how their Deer Park location treated us....they set out to rip us off from the moment they took over the exterminating company we used for many years.  As soon as I recognized what they were doing I fired them, they wouldn't accept my firing, even though we were moving - hand closed on the house the day before...they still sent their man out to exterminate and tried to bill us.  I've heard the same about the other big box companies like that.   Better to find a small operator who is honest. 4951

@donnatella: www.orkin.com/termit es/They don't look like any of these. Thing is,they are not near any food source. They are by the back wall near mykitchen table. I saw a few outside and alot inside albiet all dead. I would think if it was a termite they wouldn't be dead. They don't have wings either.

@TexasOma: it was terminix that was busted for fraud in their extermination jobs. they are the company that was not really drilling thru slabs but just doing cosmetic holes deep enough to have to patch so they could charge you for a complete treatment

termites don't swarm without wings. the termites leave the colony with wings and fly.  when they land, the wings fall off. if you see a bunch of iridescent wings floating in the pool or the dog's water , etc, those are left from the termites swarming. 4951
