I really need to get in to see a dermatologist right away... is there anybody you would recommend? Preferably not too expensive, no insurance... 4951

Try Dr Smith's office. There are several PA's that see patients. 4951

I thought everyone had to have insurance now. Isn't that this whole NO-bama fiasco is all about? 4951

@donnatella: Suppose to, but I had just assumed pay the $90 fee at the end of the year than up to $250 a month for health coverage that I wouldn't hardly need... of course I would have issues after that decision..

@Nope: don't feel bad. The plan probably had an outrageous deductible anyways.

Dr. Smith isn't quick about getting new patients in.  Try UT Dermatology or Baylor Dermatology. 4951

@Nope: Try Julie Brantley at Kingwood Dermatology (Rabin-Greenberg). She's the sweetest person ever and an amazing dermatologist. 281-358-7600. Just be forewarned, dermatology is a specialized field and none of them are going to be "cheap."  I can't imagine this office not working with you at least a little, though. They're really great!  EmoticonCan't speak for the other docs there, but have never heard anything negative about any of them. Would highly recommend Dr. Brantley, though.http://www.rabingreenbergdermatology.com/brantley.htm

Here is my take on the whole health care / obamacare debate. One tiny change in health care law would have been a gigantic benefit for those without insurance, without the thousands and thousands of pages of crap. Those without insurance should pay the same negotiated rates as insurance companies.I'll give you a real world example.   I choose not to get vision coverage this year because I've had great vision for 15 years.  Mistake.  I was trying to fix an electronic device and realized that I couldn't see the micro-text on the board.  Figured I should get my eyes checked for Glaucoma, etc.Called a provider.  They were going to charge me 180 dollars for a checkup.  My insurance company would have paid less than 40 for the same visit.   Why should a cash payer have to pay significantly more than an insurance company?  (oh, I know the answer, it's hypothetical).  40 is a hell of a lot easier to swallow than 180.So, one line of law could make medical treatment affordable for a large number of people without the burden of a vast new bureaucratic entity.  The very small decrease in income from screwing those without negotiated rates, would be greatly offset by not having to deal with obamacare.  Win/Win(and for those that can't afford even the negotiated rates, I'm ok with a insurance of last resort for catastrophic illness)  4951
