Discussion thread about the upcoming Kings Crossing apartments demolition...From the Super Neighborhood Council Meeting Notes: Kings Crossing Apartments to be Demolished:--
There are plans to demolish the Kings Crossing apartments, and to
replace them with new commercial and professional buildings (there was
some confusion over whether residential areas would also be included). --
There will be a representative from the company in charge of the
project, Burdette Huffman, to speak at the Super Neighborhood Council at
the May 21st, 2014 meeting to discuss plans with the community more
fully. 4951

"What's going to happen to me"????? Really??? You don't own the place since you pay rent so you simply move. We lived there in the early 2000s and hated it. It's very old and you can smell the black mold. I'm sure you are a decent person but there are lots of tenants that were, and from what I've heard are still not good people so let's demolish this place and get those people out of Kingwood. Very happy to hear this place is going to be demolished. I just hope they do the same to the sister property located across from the high school. 4951

@Smmcco, your name should say Smucko! The apartments are decent. They are old. People living there are mostly good folks. What terrible things you have to say. These apartments were the first place my family moved to in 1982. It will be sad if they demolish them. 4951

If the demolition is a year or two off the apartment project simply does not renew a lease when it comes due.  By the time demolition comes around no one will be left vacate the project.  I maybe mistaken but the leasing company doesn't have to notify you of having to vacate until 60 or 90 days before the lease is up.  This doesn't count eviction notices of course. 4951

The people who approve building in Kingwood seem to be brain dead. This area was not intended to be a city. We do not need a big commercial complex at the corner if Kingwood Dr and WLHP! We need to keep the trees and spare the concrete. 4951

I actually think those apartments look dilapidated!  The owners are not taking care of them.  I would not want to stay where the owners do not have the money to maintain them properly.  They only going to get worse. 4951

@calliecat: . It is probably true they are only going to get worse. They seem to have gone downhill since I lived there a number of years ago but that is no reason to "rape" the land and build a large commercial complex. Tear them down and build a park... Oh, I forgot a park does not generate the almighty dollar, it just looks better and saves trees and wildlife.

They look like apartments from the 70's. We lived there for a short time like 10 years ago. They were so gross and dirty and we had neighbors smoking crack and partying all the time. If they build something nice there It will make that corner look so much better. 4951

@tatertot58 I am not advocating building commercial property.  A park would be nice! 4951
