Has anybody ran this obstacle course before? I was supposed to participate last year, but got pretty sick and wasn't able to. I'd like to go this year, but wanted to hear feedback from former participants if possible. I hear it can be pretty brutal, so I need to start training and preparing for it now. 4951

It's in November this year. Maybe this will be the year you finally get to go? 4951

@Okiedokie:
I'm hoping to be a Tough Mudder, but right now I'm probably just a Mudderling lol

That' why I trying to get my training started now! I have A LOT of work to do. Although I don't care how much I prepare, I don't think I'm ever gonna be ready for the electroshock obstacles. 4951

I know a very very fit guy who did it last year- he slipped in the mud and tore his ACL and both meniscus. It's a rough course and injuries like that do happen 4951

@Jpgurl:
That's kind of what I'm afraid of, but that's also what interests me about it. That totally sucks that happened though. Does he regret participating? I just think it's for a great cause too.

I have done the Warrior Dash twice and had a great time. For some reason the second one seemed more difficult than the first.
I did not really train for either one of them, but my goal was to finish each if them and I did.

From what I have read, the Warrior Dash is supposed to be easier than the Tough Mudder, so maybe look into the WD first.

My son has done the Tough Mudder & the Mud Run & had a blast doing both. He is very in shape and is always training for something.

I think you should go for it! It is a great experience! 4951

Thank you so much @Puzzles for the input! I just think activities like these are pretty cool, and I like that they benefit different charities. I haven't been able to volunteer as much as I like, so at least I can give back a little this way for now. Plus it give me a fun goal to work towards with my fitness, so win win! Is the Warrior Dash coming to Houston this year? 4951

I am not sure when the next Warrior Dash is.  We just did the one in Smithville in February.  4951

@bp2018: I don't know if he regrets it BUT it delayed his bid for a full Ironman. He got
Injured last summer and only got clearance to start riding his bike again in Jan. I guess it just depends on your goals and does the risk out weigh the benefit for you. Plus you have to understand that any time you have an orthopedic surgery that joint is not going to be just like it was before the injury. There always something a bit off. My dh had both knees scoped last year and he just can't get back to where he was before the surgery- it can be very frustrating.
I know for me personally those type of races aren't worth the risk- an injury could mean I don't ride my bike for a while- and that's not acceptable. BUT I'll be the first to admit I accept that risk of injury every time I ride. I've also known people that do these events and dont get injured.

@Jpgurl:
I'm thinking since my goal is to just finish the race, I should be fine. Like you said, it's all about the risks you choose to take. I want to go sky diving one day, so I guess that's a whole different kind of risk right there! Do you ride your bike fairly often? I used to ride mine a lot as a kid with my dad. After he passed, it just never really felt the same. Hoping to get back into it though.

@bp2018: right now not as much- we're remodeling our master bath- so maybe 30 miles a week. But in a normal year anywhere from 60-120miles a week. Hoping that we'll be done in another 3 weeks and I can back at it.
