Has anybody played any of their games? I love H.P. Lovecraft, and the games are supposedly based on his work. They can be quite pricey, and I'm trying to determine if it's gonna be worth the big bucks or not. 4951
Yes, my wife and I play Eldritch Horror as well as Elder sign. They are in the same family of games. I highly recommend them. Eldritch Horror is everything people liked about Arkham without the stuff they did not like. Both games Arkham and Eldritch are big games taking up a lot of table space with a lot of rules and mechanics. Eldritch is the newer (hotter) game with only one expansion out so far. Elder Sign is a lot of fun and less intensive it also has one expansion and is a great place to start in the gaming / Lovecraft stuff. The rules for all three of these games are available via a Google search and Ettin games in Humble has Elder sign in their library of games to try as well as Mansions of Madness (another game in the series) and possibly Arkham and Eldritch but not for sure on those. 4951
I don't know if you have played any other specialty games meaning games not ava at walmart or target.  These games are more expensive because they are better games. Just saying. 4951
Thanks so much for the review! They look right up my alley, but wanted to make sure before I spent all that money. They're a bit much, but definitely worth it if it's a good quality game like you said. I like the Dungeons and Dragons games, as well as the Catan games. They are loads of fun and are a nice change of pace from the typical games, like you mentioned, from Walmart and Target etc. There is a new one out called Smallworld I would like to try. Looks like it's along the same lines as Catan crossed with D&D. 4951
Small world has been out for a bit and is from Days of Wonder the company famous for Ticket To Ride. It is pretty good and Ettin games has a copy of it you can play in the store to try out as well. Arkham Horror and Eldritch Horror are more complicated than Small World but more rewarding as well. We spend time at Ettin games trying out new games as they have a library of about 300 to try in store along with tables to play at. We like a mix of what they call gateway games (lighter and fun) such as Catan and the heavier games that can take longer to play but offer a lot of theme and experience. Arkham and Eldritch falls in to the second category. 4951
