I almost and I am not getting out of the car until my husband gives me the clear! Yesterday when I was about to pull into the garage a snake scurried across in front of the car before I pulled in. I quickly shut the garage door. 2 hours later, as we were about to get into the car, there was another snake I'm the garage! I jumped back in the house while my son and dh killed it. What am I going to do if there is another snake in the garage and dh and ds are not home? I am petrified! Last year my ds saw a snake right by my back door and I would not go out that door for a good month! 4951

@calliecat: Call me. I love chopping their heads off. Make sure you keep a garden hoe handy.

I have yet to see a snake and I am thrilled. We have a bunch of stray cats and I think that helps...plus we have dogs. I'm deathly afraid of frogs and haven't seen any either....guess the snakes got em LOL 4951

@topcat: Be careful, b/c venomous snakes can still bite after their heads are chopped off.  Just saying...  Emoticon

My dh tried to step on and my Ds yelled at him not to do that and got a shovel. I told them the snake can still move after its head is chopped off. 4951

As long as they aren't poisonous, I say let them be. Keep away rodents and other small pests. 4951

mothballs my dear.  I used to spread them along our fence line at our old house since we backed up to a marsh preserve.  They stink to high heaven but they would keep the snakes away. 4951

@Nurse3: I would be very concerned about pets and wildlife with the mothballs.

You do realise they are retreating because they don't want to met you either.Show a little patience and they will leave. You can even shoo them away slowly, they will be happy to leave, even poisonous ones.Freaking out makes it worse however.Like all animals they can smell the fear.

When @calliecat sees a snake in her garage:

Honestly, folks, leave the snakes alone and they'll leave you alone.  They don't want to be around you, either. 4951
