Did people give gifts to their kids besides candy?!?  According to the sales flyers (of course), stores make it seem like another Christmas.   What a crock!How do you feel about the commercialization of another religious holiday? 4951

We usually got a basket of mainly candy and sometimes a stuffed toy but we also got a treasure hunt that included toys but they were usually sport or educating related toys like balls, pool floats, mitts....etc and sometimes hair accessories and other stuff like tank tops. We would have the Easter egg hunt first. One egg had instructions on it for the first treasure spot and when that spot was found it had a gift and had the next clue and so fourth.The stuff was usually cheap and/or needed stuff and was not near a Christmas morning but still fun fun fun!It was kept very much religious.  After the hunt we always went to church, read our bibles and had a fancy lunch. Infact A bible was usually one of the treasures we hunted.For my own kids it is usually a theme related basket I either buy or put together with an Easter egg hunt and maybe a stuffed animal if the basket doesnt already have one. I usually keep it under 50 bucks all together. give or take a few. 4951

Growing up we always had some kind of gift in the basket, but nothing huge.  Something equal to today's value of $50 or so.  Nothing like birthday or Christmas but the Easter gift was a little significant.  4951

I usually do chocolate bunnies and peeps. Add in a  few jellybeans in plastic eggs for a Easter egg hunt. That's it...and they are quite happy! 4951

PSA:The right way to eat the Chocolate Easter Bunny.  You set him in the fridge.  Then just nibble off his ears.  Fill him up with milk and eat and drink your chocolateEmoticonYou are welcome.

@Fallon:

I'm so happy I found someone who did this other than me and my sisters! My parents used to cringe! Emoticon

The only way to deal with a hollow chocolate bunny if you're under 12. 4951

Ok, just kidding! They will only get candy. I don't think a gift is necessary. We celebrate the holiday by going to church and spending time with family. Christmas is already out of control. We like to keep Easter simple. 4951

I always made up my own basket with candy I know my son would like. I would throw in a t-shirt rolled up a game or something. My husband would do a Easter hunt. He would put Lindt chocolate eggs, some would have fifty cents, some with a dollar bill, 5 dollar bill and a ten dollar bill. Needless to say, my nephews loved to come over to my house for the Easter hunt. They were a little older than my son. 4951
