>> I don't know but whatever you do watch it closely for infection. Staph LOVES those nice warm moist places and will set in QUICK! You don't want to have to tell that story.
@BooBear:
Way to scare me!! How do I know if it turns into staph & how do I keep it from doing so?
@Heathur:
She is correct, staph loves warm, moist environments. Keep it clean and somewhat dry. I suggest covering with gauze or pad.
You apparently had a super stick bandaid and it really stuck good. I have a patient right now that has fragile skin like that.
Do you have any Telfa pads, also called non stick pads? And some hypo allergenic cloth tape? Can you go get some? Maybe in the morning get some on the way to work. Put the neosporin on, cover with non stick pad, secure with the soft tape.
When you get home, wet the tape and gently pull it off using the other hand to press against the skin under the tape to brace and prevent skin tearing.
Don't use hydrogen peroxide, just use soap and water, pat dry. Or, mix up a solution of mild salt water (you could buy some saline water at the pharmacy, but making it yourself is cheaper) and rinse with that, pad dry, then bandage.
Please see an md if it doesn't improve in a couple of days. 4951
