What new hell is this?For the second time in three years, Mazda Motor Corp has issued a recall for Mazda6 sedans in North America because of a spider that likes the smell of gasoline and weaves a web that blocks a vent in the engine.Mazda told U.S. regulators that it is recalling 42,000 sedans with 2.5-liter engines from model years 2010 to 2012 in the United States. Mazda officials were not immediately available to report recalls outside of the United States.Three years ago, Mazda recalled about 65,000 Mazda6 sedans in North America from model years 2009 and 2010, also because of spider webs blocking evaporative canister vent lines. The same issue is the cause of the most recent recall, Mazda told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.The web weaved by a spider can lead to a restriction of fuel flow, which in turn can reduce fuel tank pressure when the emission control system purges vapors from the evaporative canister. This can put stress on the fuel tank, which may crack and leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire, a report filed with NHTSA says.Mazda said it is not aware of any fires because of this risk. 4951

OMG! I have had these in my crv since shortly after I bought it!! I find them inside the little door that opens to the gas tank. They get inside the car and I'm always smashing them on the windows. I assumed some wackjob spider had made a nest inside the door or something. I see them in late spring/summer. Seriously guys, what should I do? Take it to a Mazda place so they can see if there are webs in there? I haven't seen one yet this year. 4951

@topcat:

If yours is the one on the recall list, I would take it in just to be safe. Since it's being recalled, there shouldn't be any charge to have it looked at. 4951

@bp2018: But mine is a HondaEmoticon Maybe this recall will cause other crv owners to speak up. I'll see if Honda will check it out due to the circumstances.

For reals @herron1345!If you leave closet doors open at night clowns can come in your house and kill you.  Dolls will kill you too.  They are straight up evil.  If you have any toss them in your neighbors trash can.  If you put them in yours, they will come in your house and take you out.  This is PSA.

@Fallon: That happened to my uncle in '77. He was never the same.

@topcat: Great...  And we have/(had) plans to buy a CRV by the end of this year. THIS is enough to make me say "NOPE".  I am curious to see if this is common for other Honda drivers.  I REALLY like the CRVs, but that would be a deal-breaker!
