@N+T:

What does the prism do that makes it different? Is it supposed to be better? 4951

I had progressive eye glasses and hated them!  That was when I decided to do Lasik surgery.  The best decision I ever made.  I have mono vision where one eye is for distance and the other for up close. 4951

I love the Serengeti sun glasses.They really stop eye fatigue on long drives.And my tortoise shell ones, a slightly lighter lens shade, also makes overcast and stormy days appear brighter. I got Lasik back in 1999, and it's been wonderful.I've been thinking it would make a grand graduation gift for my freshman in college if she does good. 4951

Educate me...is lasik for near or far sighted people...or both? I need reading glasses so I guess I"m far sighted and HATE it...I always had perfect vision. I was told it was due to age! Geez, another thing to decline...first my butt and now this! 4951

@Ally: Either, depends if you have cornea to allow enough removal where it is required.I was extremely near sighted, with astigmatism also. Got to 20/15 initially, now about 20/25 15 years later.I had to start wearing reading glasses as soon as I had the surgery, and I still wear them.But thin reading glasses are still WAY better than the coke bottle lens I was wearing 100% of my awake hours.

I hate my progressives (for computer use and reading).  Can't get used to them, so I just use my glasses for distance for almost everything.  4951

@N+T...1st you must remember not to move your head when you are trying to see different things , MOVE YOUR EYES !  The progressive lenses have the bifocal built in so you do not see the bifocal  , but just like any bifocal you have to "learn" to move your eyes not your head . When you want to read something  hold your head at a slight tilt & drop your eyes down , not your head. Always wait for your eyes to focus before moving your head or you will get "sea sick " . Never try to look down when going down the stairs , the bifocal will make the stairs seem closer than they are & you could miss judge your step & fall. I worked in the optical industry for many years  & trust me , I tried the progressive lenses & after a month had to go to the flat-top 25 , much better for me , but hubby likes & wears the progressive lenses. Everyone has to decide which one is best for them .Usually the optical shop has a 30 day policy for 1st time progressive wearers & they will exchange the progressive lenses for a flat top 25 or 28 if you can not adjust to them within a 30 days period. Usually a lot of practice with a book will work things out in a week or so ...good luck & I bet your new glasses look great !   4951

I have worn progressive lenses for 5 years now and have adjusted just fine. But the new pair might need adjusting. 4951
