1) Don't try to talk to your cashier about your coupons, or your purchase or get them to try and solve your problem when they are in the middle of trying to assist the customer that's in front of you, and get them out the door. Wait your turn. It's rude2) If you get to your line and you decide you don't want an item, give it to your cashier. Don't stuff it in the candy bars at the registers or leave it sitting on the belt. That's how the store loses money when dumb people leave an unwanted chicken breast with the Snickers. 3) Employees don't stop being people when they walk in. Treat them with respect. You may be a customer, but you're not the Queen of England. They are they to help and assist you, not to be treated like servants.4) It's not the cashier's fault if you feel like there are too many express lanes and you and your 40 items don't want to wait. If you notice, cashiers at those lanes don't have baggers, so they have to check out and bag those items. 5) If you take in a big basket and after you check out you decide you can carry your bags back to your car without it, don't leave the basket just sitting there in the middle of the aisle. Leave it outside, just beyond the doors where it can be picked up.6) Make sure when you have a coupon, you not only check that you got the right item but the right size. If it says 16 oz, don't get the 32 oz. And don't yell and scream at your cashier when they refuse to give it to you. They aren't going to lose their job just so you can get your dollar off.This has been a public service announcement.  4951

LOL sad thing is, you shouldn't have to say "please" for any of this stuff. It's just common sense.  4951

I don't know what's happening to people.  I was in the bank last week waiting to speak to an officer.  One of the banks executives walked by and said "Hello, how are you?"  When I said "I'm doing great. How are you doing?" he was shocked.  He stopped and sat down.  He told me that almost no one asks him how he's doing.  We chatted for a few minutes before an officer was available.  What's happened to common courtesy?  Are we all so busy or self-focused that we can't be polite? 4951

@nikkiole: Such wise words for such a young person.....Thanks. Also, check the expiration dates BEFORE you get to the store.And, if you have a huge grocery load with zillions of coupons, please do your grocery shopping at off times, instead of inconveniencing  the other shoppers.  If they are with you, please don't let them run the store & bump into other shoppers.  And, leave your herd of children at home, if possible.

@Retired_Engineer: Some people have that kind of attitude. It's ridiculous. Glad you asked him about his day. Customer service has really taught me how some people are when they are dealing with people that they feel are their momentary inferiors.

@nikkiole: what is the proper etiquette when a customer in a grocery store punches another one to protect a lady? Do you tip off your own grocery bill or is there a standard amount?

@RobinZander: I believe the police would be called, in that situation. As for a reward, I would leave that up to the store manager to determine how he or she would like to handle that, if at all.

@Retired_Engineer: wait, you can go inside banks? how long has this been? What do they look like inside? I didn't even know those doors were unlocked. Is there a cover charge? Banks charge for everything these days.

@RobinZander:  It was actually quite nice inside.  They had four comfortable chairs to sit in while you are waiting.  They even offered me coffee or water.  No charge!  I even checked my pocket and wallet when I left.  Everything was still there!They've even tried to get me to switch my accounts to "Private Banking" so I would get concierge service!  I said no thanks because I step inside a bank about once every 5-10 years.

@Retired_Engineer:
Probably because most times they don't really care when they ask.  Is it politeness or just going through the motions of pretend courtesy? 4951

@TexasOma: Aw, yes Lawd!! The children. Don't even get me started on the children. Running around every where, bumping into things, while the parents smile on indulgently in their, "Isn't he the cutest thing ever?" No. It's not cute.
It's amazing to me how many children have not been taught to say please or thank you. "I WANT THIS!" and they'll reach out their hands and the parents will smile and laugh. That's not cute, either.  4951

@Odin: How do you tell the difference? Isn't it just better when anyone asks, "How are you?" to reply, "I'm fine, and you?" That would take a much shorter time than to try to discern whether the person is sincere or not.

@nikkiole: Just common courtesy.  I am beginning to think it's a lost art.
