My mother just moved here, needed to find a Urologist that could get her in, and found Dr Berwind, she liked him well enough, she needs surgery and that's where he operates out of. She's scared to death of Cleveland Hosp, said there are some bad stories about from way back. IS that still true? She also wants a second opinion, can anybody recommend a good Urologist around KW? 4951
@jls2: I have patients that use Dr. Nwokeji and they love him. Another likes Dr;.Krause. Just try to keep from using Kingwood Hospital, it's not as bad as Cleveland but close. 4951
Dr. Nwokeji hands down. I've been a patient of his for a few years. Also I've have procedures done at Kingwood Med. Ctr. as same day surgery & overnight stays & always received excellent care at KMC, I've never had a problem there. 4951
Google Cleveland Hospital in Cleveland, TX. You will see that they are having financial difficulities cutting staff & cancelling surgeries. A year ago, the CEO was served a warrant for his arrest for a physical altercation with the chief nursing officer; needless to say, he is no longer there. This is not a good place to go due to many problems that have gone on for years. Any doctor that would practice there is not reputable. You can also google Dr Robert Berwind & see that he had a complaint for substandard care, incompetence and negligence in a bladder suspension operation. Also, he is not a certified urologist. It is important to use a physician who is certified in their field and stays up to date in his field. He is not a good doctor to use. 4951
Back when Dr (and I use that term very loosely!) Merrimon Baker was not allowed to practice at a single hospital in Harris County, Cleveland Hospital allowed him to practice there. 4951
I passed the stone and just never went back. They were trying to have me schedule 2 additional appointments for no reason. Very unimpressed. Plus how you gonna do surgery on the wrong side wtf!!!! Scary. 4951
I just talked with someone yesterday about Cleveland. Apparently, according to this person, the hospital changed ownership from one brother to another and fired everyone. Then they offered to hire everyone back, but at a 20% pay reduction. A lot of people told them to stick it!Even before this happened the nurse to patient ratio was like 8/9-1. CRAZY! In an acute care setting, the highest SAFE ratio would be 6-1 depending on the acuity of the patients. If they are able to take care of themselves and just need to be monitored and have a few iv medications 6-1 is fine, but if they can't take care of themselves and need total care, a safe ratio would be more like 4-1 unless they are in the ICU. 4951
